Yeah, my buddy I went to see it with, who is an avid Star Wars fan, HATED ALL OVER IT! He was going off about it as we were walking out the theatre. Shit was funny!
I want that Kylo Ren character to fuckin die off like yesterday. How does he not fuck himself up with his own lights saber? The design is impractical for light saber combat, and don't get me started on that aardvark-lookin ass helmet. What a douche bag!
Because we were all expecting Luke to be some badass Gandolph type, not some astral projecting buddhist monk type. And it did kind of take a dump on all old rules in star wars storyline, no more sith lords, no more there has to be a master and apprentice stuff etc. Which i personally didnt mind. I like what they did with Luke, felt fresh and new, and I was happy to see Mark Hamill can actually act, but i can see what a lot of the diehard fans are on about. I was just happy it was a lot better than any in the prequel trilogy, something im still angry about, fuck they were shit movies, 3 decades wasted in between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, solely because of George Lucas's ego. This one will probably come in at my 5th favourite star wars movie, but thank god there was no Hayden Chritiansen, no Jar Jar, no fuckin stupid midicloriant explanations or stupid conversations about sand
You know...I never thought of that, good point. But, Vader was old and slow, where Luke was young and full of energy and vigor. Luke was just returning the favor, but good point still.
Also, Oscar Isaacs is the hottest ugly guy on the planet. He has a face that shouldnt work, and yet still found myself just staring at him. Its weird
One is supposed to hate the Villian, seems to be working then Adam Driver is my favourite of the new cast "I want every gun we have to fire on that man. DO IT!" - already a classic line
No, hate as in dislike because he just doesn't fit as a villain at all. The other characters that were villains, I actually LIKED because they were awesome in thier own way. Kylo is not awesome and just doesn't project a fearful image. Not like Darth Vader who was taller than everyone else, striking midnight black costume, deep voice, and menacing breathing sound. When you first seen that mofo as a kid, did he not startle the shit outta you? Darth Sidius, who had the persona as someone you just knew you really couldn't trust, and when he became disfigured, he was a horrible sight to behold? And Darth Maul, who was just an all out bad ass. Kylo Ren is a booger-eating goober
Kylo Ren sucks beartits and not because he's such a nasty villain. He sucks because he isn't that believable as one. Also the general premise of this character is a little too easy and predictable. The kid of Han and Leia (grandkid of Anakin) is the next leader of the bad side. Meh. At least make it come across believable then. Miscast indeed.
Technically the dark side won in Episode III when they succesfully turned the republic into an empire with a Sith lord at the top
I find Star Wars films very complicated and I can't follow the plot too well. Like so much hokum it bamboozles me. Did I see episode III? Maybe I have a fantastic memory that just auto-filters mediocre bilge.
I think thats kind of the whole point though, dont think he is going to exactly be the villian. My main problem with this movie is the middle, the whole escape on transports, Finn running off to find a codebreaker was all filler storylines that werent necessary. I would have much preferred a more fascism ( First order) vs supposed capitalism and democracy ( Republic) good can actuallly be bad emphasis, especially in that middle. In that either nasty thing the First order get up too, which would have given us a chance to see more of Phasma or the results of the glutony of the Republic. Ren killing you know who this time seemed to suggests he doesnt think much of the old ways, in his head thinks he can lead the First order to a fairer type if fascism. The stormtroopers are basically just nazis in space, so in coming movies, far more interesting storylines would be if Ren basically does a Hitler then it all comes apart under his own ego. Or Rey does turn him around and he becones one of the good guys. Certainly more intetesting than fuel reserves or whether or not ships can be tracked through hyperspace If he is supposed to be a one dimensional baddie, id agree he is miscast, but I dont think thats going to be the case. Even if you think he is miscast, I think he is a great actor and intetesting on screen, even with that gigantic nose
With Vader, how much of it really had to do with James Earl Jones voice, and the very quotable script. Maul was stuck in a shit movie, but he was kind of a way cooler baddie, looked cool, looked like he actually knew how to fight, and gave us better fight scenes. Vader just walks around and says stuff most of the time, a choke hold here and there. Without THAT voice he would be no where near as scary
