hey john, come over our place and let him play a little. I'll tell ya what I think when I see him playing for a couple hrs. Honestly, I don't think he sounds spoiled but it may be a good time to introduce things like the "help daddy clean" game. My kids actually enjoy it. We make it fun. Plus, we have tons of toys and I would love to clean out a little. *hint hint*
Its a difficult job getting the balance right isnt it? Ive an 8 year old son who used to SCREAM if he couldnt get what he wanted...i was so tempted most of the time to give in cos I was so tired all the time... Well I did maybe more than i should...but evenso he is growing into a lovely young boy, who has very good manners and asks for things, rather than just taking. The other day he asked if he could have his pocket money early...he always does this and I said no and he starts crying. I explained to him that sometimes in life we have to wait for things...like when you are grown up and go to work you will probably have to wait for your paycheck and not get it when you want it.. He saw the logic in that.... Kids always try it on....but I suppose you have to keep the balance and at the age your son is, its hard to say no......but you have to sometimes.....or else they get into the "i can have anything I want" thought process... Good luck!!!
