It's just a picture. Not like it's a mutant spider crawling out of your computer screen.

Whenever I see something like that my mind just instinctively recoils in fear and hatred.
I can't stand how they look for some reason, it freaks me out. My mother used to buy me these nature magazines when I was small, and sometime they would feature huge, double page pictures of close ups of spiders completely unannounced and I think it traumatized me for some reason, which is why I have to kill them when I see them just for the reestablishment of peace of mind.
Even when I kill them though I must imagine what those same faces must now look like smushed, eight beady eyes staring lifelessly....

Yeah, but the 7th inning stretch has traditionally been the time to go to the bathroom and buy some more beer. How can we enthusiastically sing patriotic songs while drunk when they keep us in our seats?

When I was a student, we had cockroaches. Now whenever I see a photo of them I feel sick and feel them crawling all over me. Damn the little bastards.

Sure hope you weren't one of those people who threw stuff at the TV screen and broke it when Orkin was running those ads a while back that made it look like a roach was crawling across the TV screen.

There was a rash of those incidents of people needlessly breaking their TVs and then blaming Orkin.

Luckily, they don't show anything like that over here. I would be less than happy.

It's not like I'm trying to suggest phobic people into Imagining their worst nightmares, that would be cruel.

What's funny is that I thought I had been making progress.
I've been thinking about spiders a lot lately, deliberately, in order to try to overcome my fear of them and I even let a spider I saw in the corner of my bedroom live the other day, but when I saw that picture, I just couldn't handle it.

It's strange, now I always think that I don't mind them any more and if I saw one, I would be able to remove it myself. But no. I see once and run and cry like a baby

I lived in a basement apartment room filled with spiders. There were times I'd wake up to one crawling across me. And would just go back to sleep by the end there. But watching your kids arm swell to nearly twice it's size tolerance ends quickly.

I feel the same about maggots. I swatted a fat fly and it exploded with tiny crawlies. I had to clean it all up and didn't feel clean for days.
