a day in the life was about a guy in the newspaper who was on cid and in his car and his mind was blown and he crashed and died. know this.
Are you sure Cocaine by Hendrix isn't actually Sunshine of Your Love by Cream? A bunch of my friends downloaded that song, and it was Sunshine of Your Love mislabeled as Cocaine by Jimi Hendrix. I've never actually heard a song called cocaine by Hendrix.
i thought "stir it up" by marley was about women (kinda). like, the feeling you get from a girl, that sort of thing. i wanna say i saw that on a DVD or something - that Bob wrote it for Rita before they were married. and that jimi hendrix - cocaine thing is a mistake. mis-labeled. anyone ever listen to Bill Hicks“ thing about musicians and drugs? hilarious shit!
purple haze not about drugs? i want an explanation. Purple Haze supposedly is about a dream Jimi Hendrix had that he was walking under the sea. This is taken straight from an interview with Jimi in 1967. But he could very well be lying about that, admitting that it was about drugs to the press would have led to tons of problems such as his home being raided and the song being banned from radio stations worldwide.
Lots of songs listed that aren't about drugs, like Got To Get You Into My Life and Brown Sugar. Here's some that ARE about drugs: -Acapulco Gold -Panama Red -Smoke 2 Joints (Bob Marley) -Amphetamine Annie (Canned Heat) -Marijuana (David Peel And The Lower East Side) -Rip This Joint In an interview, John Lennon (who wrote Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds) said it was about a picture his little son Julian drew in school and brought home. It was a drawing of a woman with clouds & stars and John asked Julian who it was and Julian said "Lucy in the sky, with diamonds." Hmmm. Co-incidence? The guy who wrote Puff The Magic Dragon (either Paul Stookey or Peter Yarrow) said the song had nothing to do with drugs. A Day In The Life was banned by the BBC for a drug reference, but but not about the guy who was in an auto wreck. It was about that line sung by Paul "Went upstairs and had a smoke, someone spoke and I went into a dream". The '65 or '66 song "Girl" by The Beatles features the sound of someone hitting a joint.
So as to dispell confusion, smoke two joints is an original song by a group called The Toyes. Sublime covered it. And wtf, Stir It Up is about women, like the mood is getting hot. You know.
Montana - Frank Zappa :: about moving to montana and growing pot. Coming into Los Angeles - Arlo Guthrie :: I can't believe no one's mentioned this... or have they and I missed it? Ton Load - Cappleton, Marijuana - Sizzla :: I dont think reggae and danchall songs about pot should count, just too many of them... The Tussen, Toothpick Spliff - MC Chris :: Hillarious songs, but most of what MC Chris does is pretty funny if you like Adult Swim type humor and nerd jokes... Eh, I'm too lazy to hunt out more music in my collection... RangerDanger, so glad you mentioned Amphetamine Annie, love Canned Heat.
Actually "Got to Get You Into My Life" is about pot. Paul McCartney has admitted it in numerous interviews, http://www.hempfiles.com/php/page.php?id=55 heres a link to one of them. Also Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds actually isnt about LSD. John Lennon later wrote and released a song called "Cold Turkey" in which he basically admitted that he was addicted to heroin and was trying to quit. It wouldnt make sense for him to try and cover up Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds after doing that.[/QUOTE] That was a great interview. I'm pretty sure Lucy isn't about LSD. Lennon was able to admit that a lot of his songs were crap, and was very outspoken. I'm sure, eventually, he would have admitted that it was about acid if it truly was.
