    LOL, whatever.

They were just as trendy and fake as our generation appears to be.

I'm not saying things weren't better in the 60s and all that...I think so too, the music, the whole scene...but they ain't gonna come again man. I suggest you open your eyes outside of a closed mind and you'll see that prejudice is the greatest evil (I'm talking music here). and you'll see the music being made today for the MUSIC part, not the TODAY part...

Also why do you need people like me to join the confroming bandwaggaon? don't you have enough. It is much more rare to meet people who are totally into the 70's in their style. you are speaking as if you are outnumbered. far from it. it is I who is the one who is heavily outnumbered.

    But it's conforming nonetheless.

If you're not even trying to discover new music, that's pretty dumb. Weren't your dear 60s and 70s not all about progression? Then progress, dammit!

Now, obviously I don't post much. But I've been coming to this site on and off for six years now, since I was 15 and Jesus things have changed over the years. I've had different user names, due to forgetting the names and passwords and the like but this site is called hippyland and one would expect the music forum to be reflective of that

Previously, I was in the 'nothing before 1980' club (not that I had a strict rule!) but more recently I've branched out and discovered some wicked music being crafted by my generation and it's awesome. But I respect the opinions of people like citrus_seas and water_baby because the music created in the 60's and 70's holds the key to my heart, soul and mind, it stirs all three and is rock and roll at its purest and finest IN MY OPINION. There is nothing wrong with opinions guys, and citrus_seas is entitled to be however militant he/she wants in his/her passion for this particular music

I don't think it should be implied by the icon of a blue smilie face twirling is finger around its ear that he/she is crazy. We all have our parts to play and we all have our passions, and behind every part and every passion is soul.

    Peace

Well we've come a long long way,

    Look at everything we know

    We're getting smarter everyday,

Ah but where's it gonna go

For all the words that go by,

    I've got a feeling inside

That after it's all said and done

Though we've come a long long way

This old world's not much better than it was

Oh it's just like the twenties, machine guns were plenty

Everyday you'd get shot up all the whisky'd get bought up

We'd be dancing the night through, just waiting until

The joke's on you, ah then what do you do

Model T's and Chevies just loaded with heavies

Shining faces like morning roses, aglow with their noses

Pressed on your window, just waiting to shine

Your concrete shoes, to the piano roll blues

We're flying space ships round the stars

    Getting faster by the hour

Pretty soon we'll be on Mars

    Build another Ivory tower

Thru all the praise that you borrow

There's still hunger and sorrow and after it's all said and done

Though we've come a long long way

This old world's not much better than it was

Oh it's just like the twenties, machine guns were plenty

Everyday you'd get shot up all the whisky'd get bought up

We'd be dancing the night through, just waiting until

The joke's on you, ah then what do you do

    Oh

Model T's and Chevies just loaded with heavies

Shining faces like morning roses, aglow with their noses

Pressed on your window, just waiting to shine

Your concrete shoes, to the piano roll blues

Different strokes for different folks and all that jazz..

I always find it amusing that musical taste discussions always seem to come down to "Who's the best? Come on, just admit it..", or "This is what you should be listening to, you fool.."

There are no parameters in music. Your horizons can be as wide or narrow as you please... As long as you love music.

I have more music than most, but it doesnt mean I'm any better, or worse, than someone with only a few albums by a handful of bands. (Although, in my mispent youth I have fallen into the trap of getting cocky about my tastes and collection like I witness in here a lot)
