It's really funny to see folk here drink Corona. Even the Mexicans won't drink them because they know that it's shit beer.
St. Rogue's Red Ale, after all these years of consuming some of the finest crafted brews this world has to offer, remains my number one. Simple, yet profound. Basic, yet esoteric. Single flavour in nature, yet involving a complex matrix in design.
WHAT - THE - FUCK - ARE - YOU - TALKING - ABOUT? anheiser-busch has no best kept secrets other than their beer is shit, but even THAT isnt a secret. everyone knows that. and the "craft" brews they´ve been trying to pass off as quality.... ie. Spring Heat Spiced Wheat, and that pumpkin one... *rolls eyes* as far as Mich. Light goes, i guess it´s not a horrible beer, but i´d certainly never choose to drink it. maybe i´d have to be already pretty drunk to drink that. if you´re in the midwest, get your hands on some Bell´s or New Glarus´ Unplugged series. Bell´s Hopslam is one of the finest beers i´ve ever had. it´s a double IPA (their Two Hearted Ale is a regular IPA) and each 12 oz bottle has enough hops in it to make SEVEN CASES of Miller Lite! The New Glarus Unplugged Series is only available in 4-packs and for a limited timed for each batch. basically, one of the brewers gets to go nuts and make whatever-the-hell they want. i´ve had some tasty, TASTY beer from those. for a lot of beers, you have to either get them fresh where ever you are, or have the proper set-up (like for Guinness). I stopped drinkin heineken for a long time because i was spoiled with the fresh stuff in the netherlands. but about a month ago or so, i bought a 6 pack and it was fresh! i couldnt believe it. and the closer you go to the source for guinness, the more heavenly it is. as far as "lower-end" beers go, I will say that PBR ("pibber") is pretty good, and High Life is OK every now and then. but Pabst Blue Ribbon - still hangin´ on to that blue ribbon! - does kind of leave this certain taste in my throat that makes me feel thirstier. so i wind up just slammin´ PBRs. which is OK with me; gotta represent Wisconsin in true fashion!
Shiner Bock is my favorite beer by a country mile... unfortunately it's hard to find around here. Labatt Blue and Fat Tire get honorable mention while Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat is the best fruity beer I've had although I haven't had too many others.
wrong. if fruit goes in a beer, it goes in during the brewing or fermenting or bottling...NEVER when its being served. the citric acid will kill any head and fuck with the intended taste and aroma. any beer that requires an additional ingredient upon serving in order to taste good is a lousy beer. a beer must be able to stand alone and hold its own if its to be considered a good beer.
hmmm....i doubt we'll ever agree on this. i do LIKE st rogues, but its not even my favorite beer by rogue brewery, let alone my favorite beer....still, it IS a very good beer. just not a personal favorite. hey, are you still unable to find it where you are?
I know Colin haha  Actually, about 3 months ago we were in abundance, but lately it's gone back to being MIA. The pubs always have the Chocolate Stout, Brutal Bitter, Dead Guy Ale, Juniper Pale Ale, Uberfest Pilsner, Smoke Ale, and at least one of the Morimoto's, but the Red Ale is so illusive, it's like the ninja of beer's around here man
here i can always find the hazelnut brown nectar, st rogues, dead guy (of course), usually morimoto, shakespeare stout, and occasionally others. unfortunately i've never even seen most of what you listed!
Man, Im trying to try the Honey Orange Wheat or the Honey Cream They must be to die for, probably why we dont have them in the East!
The Rogue chocolate stout doesn't have a single hint of chocolate. Dead Guy is pretty good though, yet still nowhere near as good as some other beer. I can't believe that people are listing Shiner Bock (and even shit worse that it) as their favourite beer. Sweet Jesus.
a lot of stouts are labeled as "chocolate stout" due to the inclusion of a larger than normal amount of chocolate malt included. it may have almost no chocolatey flavor, but will more likely have roasty, coffee-like aromas and flavors, only slightly hinting at cocoa or dark chocolate.... i haven't had rogue's chocolate stout, though. i've noticed lately they have seemed to rename their beer "rogue dead guy," a change from their previous labelling of "rogue dead guy ale" my guess would be that its due to the fact that its a maibock, and thus not an ale at all, but rather a lager. i dunno. it will take a LOT to make me change my mind as to what my favorite is....for a long time it has been, and for a long time it probably will be foret! its incredible
Screw it, if I can, Im getting some Chimay blue tonight. I've had it up to here with all this mouth watering beer I've been looking at online.
New Glarus does make some tastey beers... too bad they are only made for Wisconsin and do not distribute outside of the state... I personally do not like Mich Light.. though a lot of people that come from outside the wisco, minny, dakotas, iowa.. think its a great tasting beer What do you think of Horny Goat? its made in Wisco... we just got that one in awhile ago.. kinda tastes like Blue Moon.. We have the Bells Two Hearted Ale.. i have yet to try it... im not a fan of IPAs at all
i forget that New Glarus doesnt ship outside the state... a while ago, the Unplugged beer was a Bourbon Barrel Bock - something like that. I dont even think it was distributed all that much. some friends of mine were able to obtain a case only becase they´re good friends with one of the head /master brewers. it was seriously outstanding. one sip levels you in flavor and awesomeness. that´s good you dont like Mich. Golden Light. very reassuring... Horny Goat - never heard of it. is it a newer beer? every other beer that Bell´s makes is great. they just came out with the Consecrator Dopple Bock - lots of malty goodness. it´s pretty tasty. get adventerous with their beers and you wont be disappointed. ha ha ha!
yea.. im pretty sure its new.. only comes in tall boys... its made in LaX(LaCrosse if you're not from that area) i believe
