No I am not just 2 or 3 generations, much much more than that. My people have always been here. There are native people to this land, but you and others seem to ignore this, or just don’t know. New world isn’t new, it is old, very very old. Just that it was visited by foreigners .. it was new to them, but not my people.
I studied the Yupik, but they're American I think. Can't remember now if there are any in Canada. I think they're in Alaska and came over from Russia 12,000 years ago, but my research was far from exhaustive. Yupik peoples - Wikipedia
no, the land bridge doesn’t exist. It is debunked. My people have always said we were always here and didn’t come from other places. Scientists and others like to tell us what we are and where we come from. Study: The First Americans Didn't Arrive by the Bering Land Bridge
I love the Apostle Islands and all the Lake Superior shore. The Porcupine Mountain area is real nice too.
Well storm, our history is ours. We know it. Others always tried to tell us what we are, what our history is.. We disagreed, we were told scientists know, have proof when they did not. A hypothesis that was turned into facts. A maybe this is how it happened taught as facts in your schools. We always disagreed. If I have to show someone what they think to be true, because of what they thought was true, and that person believes scientific studies, I have to show them scientific studies to negate it. Scientists aren’t simply going to believe native people, they won’t share native history as my people know it to be. They believe native people are stupid and don’t know their own background. They will teach us mentality. Stories, history of my people is looked at as fables and stupid people who are uneducated by those on the outside, They don’t know! Just sad really. How about I tell you who and what you are, what your history is? You have continually tried to tell me and others what I am, and been wrong constantly. so please try to refrain from your lame quips,
If you believe the link you provided, it doesn't say what you say it says. It doesn't say "the land bridge doesn't exist. It is debunked." What it says is that there were humans in the Americas before the land bridge was available, (12,600-10,000 years ago) and that those humans got here by a southern Pacific coastal route. How sad. What you're saying is that you're rejecting science in favor of folklore--not unlike the Young Earth Creationists who scoff at the idea we could be related to monkeys. As a Native American, I see no particular reason to cling to the idea that my original ancestors "were always here". The DNA reseach storm mentions simply confirms the obvious cultural ties between Native Americans an the Siberian peoples, including the shamaism. The important thing is we were here long before the Europeans or others of the various claimants to having "discovered" America.
Typical Republican supporter, - making huge assumptions and getting it wrong each and every time !!! - I said I had met an Inuit, I didn't say WHERE that meeting took place (hint - it wasn't within the Arctic Circle !!!).
interesting.. I will have to look into this in more detail. I received a decent grade from my Anthropology professor after all... when was this debunked?
But his point (validity aside) is that anyone who works hard to get ahead and loves his children enough to save something for them to get a head start on a better life, puts them at an unfair advantage over those whose parents were lazy or wasteful or careless or dumb or selfish in preferring to use up all their resources rather than helping their children. Some parents lead by example, and teach their children to be wise, industrious, thrifty and to save. Others don't think beyond the here and now, and are impulsively driven to splurge. Of course the latter are going to feel dissed and jealous, that's human nature. They don't consider that in order for a child to inherit a piece of land, for example, that the parents had to slave away and scrimp and save to make that happen. They sacrificed their standard of living in order to benefit their offspring. It's an expression of love. But some are driven to steal that sacrifice under the guise of making everyone 'equal' (as if that were somehow possible.) They want something for nothing. Some actually think wealth is a fixed commodity that's divided, totally unaware or deliberately ignoring that wealth is created and built. Some would be comfortable with themselves living off the sacrifices of other people unrelated to them. They have no sense of propriety, no shame. They don't want to build, they want to consume as if there were no ramifications. They don't want to make any personal sacrifices to benefit their children. They have a selfish heart and consider only themselves important. Thus the interest in the idea of socialism, so they can enjoy life without putting forth the necessary effort. Which of course can't work out in the long run because different individuals aspire to different ideals. But for some, the suffering of society long term is not a concern as long as their needs are met today. Those who'd steal the sacrifice of some people's antecedents in order to try to make everyone 'equal' are essentially evil.
Sometimes, I feel like society is so focused on these things that we forget to put them aside for people who are disadvantaged. No matter why, I think that when someone is disadvantaged they deserve a hand up.
Tishomingo, I speak several languages and have studied many cultures. I see many cultural and linguistic similarities between Asian peoples and Native Americans/First Nations. I can give a few examples here: There are similarities between the Persian Zoroastrian religious rituals and many found in North America. These would include burial practices and fire ritual sweat lodge rituals. In language, we have Sago Lilly and Belagaana in Navajo language which correlate with Arabic words. In Arabic Belagaana means "without land" and that corresponds with what my Navajo friends told me. The Navajo used that term to describe the white homeless people who were migrating from East to West through their Navajo homeland. She told me they felt sorry for the homeless white people. Also, I see similarities with the Maya culture and Arabic. The word for water in Arabic is May or Maya.
No, it is the Free Market Capitalist who wants to go through life without placing an effort. The capitalist wants to live High On The Hog off the fruits of another man's labor.
That requires compassion for other human beings and Republicans don't seem to possess compassion for others. This condition also explains why so many of them are white supremacists. If you ever listen to that stupid Buck Sexton on the radio, you'll see what I am saying.
Yes I agree with you here tundra, why strive to provide a better life for your children if the next generation will simply Be callEd them greedy, perhaps elitists. What is mine is mine. What I leave for the generations of my people is theirs, not for someone who never worked for it to have, or what others have on this land. It is not to be bought and sold off at government dictate either, or the UN dictate. We take responsibility. The left is extremely in the moment. They are greedy people. they want what belongs to someone else, someone who worked and made sacrifices for it, The mentality is nothing belongs to you anymore. Not even your thoughts are yours. Keep them locked away. We use to be able to buy programs for our computers, now it is all like a lending library. Nothing is touchable, not even photos. They can be wiped away with the touch of a button or a crash if a network. Lost forever, even intentially altered. Socialism is killing culture, one at a time. Is there something wrong with liking your culture? Seems many thing so. I don’t care how other people live for the most part. One thing in common. Loving and caring about their family and children. Providing for them. Some want to take what others worked for.
propaganda bs. Native people refuse DNA testing. A meme means this is fact? Wow what science. Take it to the conspiracy theory thread. It is a conspiracy and unproven science, with fake memes. First Nations people are not only Inuit as well. The features in those two are completely different. You know, I think I will start reporting you for your BS.
Just when you were speaking favorably of the free market, you divert back to this. *sigh* Cartoon capitalism: a fat man in a fancy suit smoking cigars while the workers toil and sweat Real life capitalism: An entrepreneur risking her assets, while working insane hours, to provide goods and/or services others want and need, while reinvesting the profits back into her business
