So, I read an article about how you can't just shut everything down like this (like we are) for months on end without a Great Depression. ...

They will have to re-open or fail, I think. Coronavirus could spark another Great Depression, former Trump adviser warns - CNN

What I'm getting to is, we have a choice here to either re-open or implement a massive government bailout.

And they've started down that path with this stimulus check thing.

So what you want is a shallow discussion of socialism but not anything in depth like government help during a hurricane?

Are you pretending he did not claim that he had a telephone conversation with the non-existent president of Puerto Rico? Are you saying Trump did not insult the citizens of Puerto Rico by tossing out paper towels so they could mop up their own island? Are you making comments about people who believe there is a proper roll for government socialism, as in a hurricane … or a health care crisis? If there is something wrong with socialism, why is Trump tossing out $1000.00 checks just like they were rolls of paper towels?

The real big discussion is: what should the government remedy be now?

I agree. We have no real need to regulate Somalia's government. We should fix our own

That Panic gets hot under the collar sometimes. He must have been brainwashed at a Ronald Reagan fan club meeting.

nope, shall we talk about what the Clintons and Obama did for Puerto Rico? The socialists! Nothing but destruction. But Clinton did approve of a colonial take over of Puerto Rico. Let’s not forget, that under Bill Clinton, in 1996 Congress started phasing out the tax break, as people began to struggle, a decade later the island spun into a recession, more like a depression.. Their economy was booming prior, thanks to republicans A special tax break on the island that brought in pharmaceutical companies and manufacturers, job, people were prospering, which socialists destroyed. If anything socialists showed a lack of concern for PR failing infrastructure, more concern for Cuba and Cubans than they were for a country of people who were Puerto Rican’s as well as Americans.

2015 Puerto Rico had electricity outages, doctors leaving by the day. 70 billion in debt, completely bankrupts and what did Obama do? Caused by the Clinton's. They couldn’t claim bankruptcy and denied them this too. For a decade it had been falling apart, and socialists turned a blind eye, all the while pretending to be supportive, when they were not, people believed the left was. Just not true. But yet Obama allowed Detroit to claim bankruptcy of 18 billion that same year. puerto Rico had spent a decade in a recession. Where was the help? Where were those pesky socialists huh? Did they care? In a year after the hurricane trump had spent I believe 1 billion to help Puerto Rico. More than Obama did, he just posed for photo ops and gave long winded speeches looking to the left and up into the sky, as if he was seeing into the future. CHANGE..... CHANGE! Not fixing things fast enough for you? Tell me, how long has it taken to fix New Orleans since they were hit? Was a bang up job done by the socialists in that regard? Fixing the mess that bush could not repair fast enough? 14 years later and it was still needing work! Obama and Clinton’s were showmen, that is for sure, good actors, but basically didn’t care and don’t care, but always available for a photo op. They pretended and convinced you they were something, that they were not,

Hundreds of schools had been closed because there is no budget for them, no tax breaks killed them. As the health system had collapsed in Puerto Rico long before the hurricane hit. Fact is, it is an island! Getting supplies there is harder than it is on the mainland. But let’s criticize trump for the 1 billion in the first year. Let’s criticize everything in opposition as bad, while socialists did little good for the American people as a whole, nor for Puerto Rican’s, people from Guam, etc... How is texas doing with regards to the the damage done and repairs? Pretty sure many areas in the USA remain in disaster zone limbo.

Spoken like someone who belongs to a demographic that never was denied any basic civil rights. If it wasn't for government not staying out of the way, black people would still be in chains, gay people still couldn't marry, and women still couldn't vote. Among many other examples I'm sure

If you want to know what pure socialism does, look at what bob rae did to ontario. NDP premier. Sorry, there is no way socialism is a good thing. When you live it you know first hand,

Don't forget what Rae's mistakes did to Ontario

they call it mistakes, it was making us test subjects for a socialist society, which failed and will fail, which was liberal socialist supported.

Rights are not gifts from government.
Government has deprived individuals of their rights though

Activists fought AGAINST the government for those new rights you listed

Legal rights don't exist in some Platonic heaven. They're claims that courts and governments pronounce as valid or are accepted and honored by most members of society. Moral rights are claims pronounced valid by some religious or ethical system accepted by a community of people. Even the natural inalienable rights mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, which are not legally enforceable, were only aspirations that a group of political leaders promulgated and adopted and people on the winning side came to accept. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, eh? There was a guy in Oklahoma several years ago that tried to use the "pursuit of happiness" line in a defense in a pot charge. Didn't get him anywhere! The Tenth Amendment Center is another one of those lunatic libertarian right wing groups that confuses rhetoric with reality. The Tenth Amendment is way too vague to serve as a foundation for states' rights. Betcha it's supported by wealthy corporate moneybaggers like the Koch Brothers spreading propaganda against the federal government in order to extend their own grip over our lives. Put power back in the hands of the states, so they can be better controlled by business corporations who can threaten to move to another state if they don't get their way. The only way its expansive claims about rights (especially the Tenth Amendment) could prevail is through government action: constitutional amendment or a major change in the judiciary brought about by the political appointment process.

Back in those days they didn’t advocate cancel culture and limitations on free speech

These days they’ve become government supremacists

Isnt cancel culture the epitomy of the free market though?
If you dont like something dont buy into it, if enough people dont buy into it then it cant be monetized.
Isnt that how it's supposed to work?
