So, when is the U.S. gonna start the air strikes in Syria?

If there really is sufficient evidence that Assad did this, he should at the very least get a slap on the wrist. Otherwise, international law may as well be printed on toilet paper, and get flushed down the toilet.

One big problem is that none of us know a lot about chemical weapons, and how bad they are. I know they were a huge problem in World War I, and that's about all I know about them. Every country involved in WWI was quick to agree to the ban, so it must be really bad shit.

That was a really strange speech last night. It's like Obama was asking for our support for doing nothing, for now.

After Syria, where next? Just get a map of the world and stick a pin in it.

Not to be dissing you really but if we follow the news we are ought to know a little bit more about chemical weapons than that they were used in WW1 ;) That being said, yes none of us seem to be experts about it and I know I'm not for sure.

Anyway, that article is about photo's only? I saw video shootage as well from syrians that were supposed to be struck by chemical weapons... it was on the dutch news and commented by an chemical weapon expert. He was pretty sure that footage showed real chemical weapons victims.

They haven't been widely used since then. There haven't been any news stories of large-scale gas attacks and their consequences.

Limited information. News crews couldn't get in there.

Perhaps they couldn't but that there was poison gas used on them is crystal clear and covered big time. It's as wellknown to us over here in west europe as the use of gas in WW1 (which after all was also in western europe :p) so I think it must have been wellknown over there in America too. After all you guys went after Saddam. I can hardly believe it is not as wellknown over there...?

I'd say it is fairly well known.

I thought so and glad to hear it. It would have been dissappointing to hear otherwise.

I should stipulate; fairly well known by those who were alive and old enough to remember. I wouldn't expect a kid born in the 90s to really know about it.

Didn't think flag waving patriotism and nationalism had a place on a forum like this .How wrong I was. :(

Yeah, same here unfortunately :p But people of our age and older should definately have heard about it if they even slightly care(d) about these matters or even the international news in general. Hard to have missed.

Wait, you're surprised to encounter different viewpoints here?
