Not to mention that they openly sell Nazi paraphernalia too. Yet the Confederate flag is banned for being "offensive" but not the Nazi paraphernalia. Apparently those are seen as "okay" with them.

It's like, if you're going to ban a symbol that's considered to be racist and offensive by many, why not just ban everything else too because it might be "offensive" to somebody else or they might scream "OPPRESSION". This is absolutely ridiculous and needs to stop. Everyone is getting so offended nowadays, I can't help but laugh.

I mean, for goodness sake, it's just a piece of cloth with geometric shapes on it, sometimes on a stick, Get over it, these people are the ones who took offense to it in the first place.

Offense is taken, not given. I wish more people would get that.

Why not fly the official state flag of your home state? That would offend no one.

Is your next avatar going to be Donald Trump?

The way I see it, the Confederate flag unites all of us who are southern, who would happily embrace that flag. I get that a vast majority of people want nothing to do with it now because all they see is racism but I hope that they can see other reasons for flying the flag besides being a redneck or skinhead and the likes. Just ordinary people who happen to have that flag outside their doorstep or maybe on their car or hanging in their room.

From my point of view, I believe that that flag brings us closer, as southerners, as brothers and sisters. I believe we're the only ones who can truly understand the flag because to us, no matter what dark history and blood has been shed under that flag, we want to reclaim it as being part of our southern pride, to be proud that we're southerners no matter what anyone says or do. That flag mean something to us. I personally don't care what the color of your skin is and if you're that proud to be one of us, a southerner or rebel, then fly that rebel flag high and mighty!

Of course, with all that said, most of us don't want to dishonor the American flag, the one that truly unites us a nation, as a people. We're proud to be Americans AND southerners. To us, the good ol' U.S. of A. is a land of opportunities, a bright future to look forward to, our home and our pride but Old Dixie is where our heart truly belongs to.

I at least hope you can now understand where I am coming from?

What pride is there in being a Southerner or a Northerner or a Californian, etc?

    I honestly don't get it.

Yeah I don't get it either. Its just a place. There are lots of other equally awesome places out there. I like the place I came from but I don't want that to define me to the degree most people seem to.

You do actually have a good point there, ha ha. It's just that the south is special to us, it has a bit of a unique culture(?) compared to the rest of the country. I usually hear people making fun of us southerners because of our accents and what not. There's also the southern hospitality that's present around here and people who actually have manners and are polite to one another compared to the cities where apparently no one would even think twice about running you over(though I have met some extraordinary people there)

Man,I remember one time I visited Chicago and I did not like it. So many rude people (not all of them of course) but I've met my share of good ones. Like, I remember one time I was riding the subways and this black man came on with a bicycle and he looked high as fuck, lol. Then this other experience at a McDonald's and this black guy was talking on the phone really loudly and kept cussing every other word and it's like, there's children here a.k.a. me who doesn't want to hear you scream obscenities, lol.

    Anyways, back on topic...

It's just, the south is so much different from other parts of the U.S.A. and you can't exactly get that same feeling elsewhere. I don't know, that's the best I can describe it. You just have to experience it and really get the feel of it. It's so much different and everyone's so laid back and respectful. It's also a truly beautiful side of the country and I at least hope people would visit just once in their lifetime.

Sorry if this doesn't answer you question as you wanted it.

    Ahh, big city folk.
    Country folk are way different.

A song I remember, about a couple of city boys went down south with their arrogance. They made a mistake though of stirring up the wrong emotions of the country folk. City boys bought a knife to a pistol fight. City boys were told to take their earring back where they belong.

Often at times, country folk and city folk are distant strangers, sharing the same land yet their values differ to great degrees.

What's important to the city folk mightn't even reach the agenda of the country folk and vice versa, country values hold no regard in the fast paced life of the city. It's amazing in a big city, with all the people surrounding you, just how lonely that can make you feel get out in the country, with no one around, above the timberline. "Lonesome don't feel like much when you're this high".

I like to think of myself as the hybrid of both. I love the country life, but I also like chain stores and shopping malls. :D

Let me guess he was one of the guys in Alabama who was recently fired from his construction job for displaying the Confederate flag on the back of his truck [IMG]

That's fantasy. Not going to happen.

Honestly, I don't know anybody else in NC who cares about the flag. I hardly ever saw one until about two weeks ago. Now they're all over the poorest neighborhoods in the mountains, and on rusty vehicles.

What do you think of downtown Charlotte?

So true. I like both places.
