no i'm saying that psychadelic drugs play a key role in human evolution. people who have not used them have fallen to a lower state, as terence mckenna say. i never said drugs was love or love is drugs, they are 2 different things. and i would not call this a fight, i would call it a debate. debates are healthy and good for us, they help us to learn and grow. although i feel she has been taking some pot shots in some cases more than trying to argue her point. daily drug use isnt always pathetic, smoking that weed at the end of the day really helps put my thoughts together, and make connections i normally would not be making.
Oh please. Are you trying to tell me that MLK loved to trip on mushrooms? Gandhi's favorite pastime was LSD? Mother Teresa grew peyote at her convent? Just because Terence McKenna said something you agree with doesn't mean it makes any sense. You can't judge someone's personal evolution based on how many drugs they do or don't do.
I smoke pot everynight to go to sleep. If I don't I on't fall asleep until 3-4 am. Most of the times it would be even later. Some drugs improve you physically and some improve you mentally.
Dude, do you know how many people get hooked on and o.d or die from painkillers every year? Neither do I....lol but I know it's a lot! It's a growing drug fad among teenagers in North America, and extremely dangerous. Pff I don't understand why not thinking right is fun...Personally, going into the Hot Springs (I guess it's the sulpher that makes you feel stoned), listening to moosic, or meditating does it for me.
what i took the word evolution to mean when he said that, was more on a personal level than the kind of (r)evolution your talking about...... he said something that makes a lot of sense to me, from my own judgement, and experiences. and your right, you cant judge peoples evolution by how many drugs they do, but you can usually tell just from talking to people if they 'are experienced' as jimi hendrix puts it... experienced meaning they have gone into deep meditations, or deep states of nothingness on acid... experiencing something that pretty much changed their whole life.
And Strawberry, i do agree that you should stop trying to argue about everything he posts. I mean, it's great, and what you mean (your point) is good, but it comes across as very cynical and critical, which makes it difficult to see your statements as logical and smart, which they are many times. It's just that you call people sad and pathetic, and call your way of doing it "a hell of a lot less lazy". You make good points, but they come across as insulting, then no one wants to read it, and think you're attacking their views without understanding them. Yes, I think drugs are dumb unless used medicinally, but I'm trying to avoid sounding judgmental.
UGH!!!! OPEN YOUR MINDS PEOPLE! may i remind you: Whether drugs lead to illumination or degradation depends on the spirit in which one takes them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's called addiction. Not because you can't. But because you don't want to. Your mind may tell you you aren't, but your body says otherwise. Go snort a bottle of percocet.
Snorting Valium, weird! What's with prescription abuse here guys? I didn't know that many people snorted prescriptions.. But I have heard that the U.S. is having quite the problems with kids that like to drink cough syrup for the DXM in it.. Weird.
ach, im making my own side, as i dont believe in attacking so strongly peoples views, or in taking such drugs as valium for enjoyment!!!
its okay, i wont put down what you are doing. come on people, stop being so harsh. We can all get along! What people experience, and what they ingest is completely up to them, its all personal, and we should respect that. We should respect them, whether we personally approve of it or not. Dont jump on his case because of what he is doing. In the end we are all the same.
you are completley right moonbeam. 'if im not causin no harm, it shouldnt bother you'- ben harper from the song 'burn one down'(great song about pot btw, you should download it)
wow dude. i see we have a lot of closed minded young hippies. if your gonna talk, at least be informed. valium is a pain killer, apart of the opium family. meaning it comes from the poppy plant. and second of all not all synthetic drugs are dangerous, after all, lsd is synthetic.
what an intelligent argument. i was letting you know that these pain killers are just as natural as the herb your talking about. and so you know, i don't do painkillers, although i have experimented with them before.
Okay, I'll make this short: Sunburst: The reason I come accross as cynical and critical is because I am cynical and critical. Let's just say I'm "keepin it real". Peace: You didn't say what time you woke up in the morning, but waking up at noon will prevent anyone from going to sleep. If you wake up between 6 and 8 am, don't take any naps, and still can't sleep, there are things you can do besides smoking pot daily. You might have a sleeping disorder and should get in touch with your doctor. He could provide sleeping pills...oh wait, scratch that, then you'll just get addicted to those. Philly: You say you can quit, you just don't want to. Honey, that's called a PHYCHOLOGICAL ADDICTION. This type of addiction can be just as difficult to break as a physical addiction. It doesn't really make a difference which kind you have, it's still an addiction. Fractual: Maybe in your view I am closed minded. Please provide one good reason why I should care. I don't understand your appearant shock that we're not all good, "open minded" hippies. I am not a "hippie" at all. I originally was when I first started coming to this site, but since reading the posts of other "hippies" and after I matured, I decided the label (or any label) did not fit me. Labels are a very immature thing. The reason I still come to this site is because I like some of the people on here, and most people here have really good tastes in music. As for being "open minded" or not, I can only say this: I'd rather have a CLOSED mind then a FRIED mind. I'm sorry, but I have yet to meet a SINGLE person that currently does drugs (and I have met alot) who has ever been of the intelligent mindset needed for me to ever try drugs. In other words, looking at the druggies I've known and read about, I would never want to be that idiotic. And yes, I've read Timothy Leary. You can quote all the famous people you want, it's still moronic in my eyes. -Kate
no matter how you look at it, drugs are drugs. and i think you should stop. its the easyist thing in the world to do.
