okay, so since I have worked in the food industry for 15 years, its really hard for me to find anything other than the restaurant industry to work in..... any decent paying job, that is.

so I guess by your deduction, the nonsmoking employee has to change their job, because people chose to smoke indoors?? I see. how fair is that?? smokers decide to ruin their lungs, not the second hand smoker. so have some respect.

like I said before, the reason why most smoking bans go into place is to protect the employees that have to sit through 40 hrs of peoples bad smoking habits. it has nothing to do with a welldefined nonsmoking and smoking area....the employees that have to wait on these people have to breathe it in through a whole shift.

before our town enforced a ban on all indoor smoking, I had to sit on the smoking side of the dining room if I chose to take a break and eat...... and guess what?? I had co workers and customers go up right next to me while I was eating to puff on a cigarette. how courteous is that crap??

Ive also seen people take a drag of a cigarette and blow it in a servers face as she was trying to take their orders. people arent courteous at all, and why do non smokers and employees have to suffer because some people choose to smoke??

ohh so I guess no one has a right to breathe in clean air??? whose rights are taken away when you allow people to smoke inside?? its people that chose not to smoke. so, I guess since a smoker has the right to smoke, then us that choose not to must suffer the consequences because people are so full of themselves and not think of others.

thats all IM goin to say.

It's all about the government controlling you and managing your life. The government does not care about you, they only care about controlling you. If a restaurant owner wants to ban smoking in his own establishment, that's one thing. It's another thing when it comes to the government.

Would you like it if the government told you that you can't smoke in your own house because it might have a negative impact on people visiting?

It's the same mentality that putting up cameras on every city block is going to make you safer. Gullible, scared, uninformed people buy into this hook, line and sinker because they buy into the propaganda that it's for their own good. People cannot see the forest for the trees.

If employees are afraid of the smoke affecting their health, they should find another place to work besides a restaurant or bar where people go to enjoy themselves.

We live in an increasingly control freak society, which is not being helped buy the people who are buying into it, thinking it's for their own good. I mean, c'mon.... wake up and smell the coffee already. When are people going to realize that the government isn't their daddy?

    it's really this simple

    which makes more sense:
making it so people have to go out of their way slightly to harm themselves, and this way, only themselves
or making it so people have to go completely out of their way not to be harmed

personally, I think number two makes more sense
    don't be so fucking selfish

and a friend of mine just made a very good point
when she was trying to quit smoking, she would get tempted by the smoke she encountered in diners and such, making it extra hard for her to quit

look, i dont' smoke...i really hate cigarettes....but the fact is it should be left up to the owner of the business. its a private business, if you don't like it, don't go there - go to places that suit your needs. same with the workers, don't like the way its run, go somewhere else.

when i go to a bar, i don't expect it to be healthy. i'm there drinking and having fun, i'm not worrying about my health. would i go to a nice restaurant for a romantic dinner where they allowed smoking in the general area, no - they won't get my business because it ruins the experience. but again, its the owners choice to allow that. willi support that owner no, because when i want a nice dinner, i go to a place that will give me that full experience of a nice dinner. with bars, its different. with hole-in-the-wall places, its different. i choose where to pay my money. owners should have the choice to service the needs of there customers without the gov't telling them they can't allow smoking.

your friend chose to go around places where there was smoking going on, thats her fault....dont' go to a private business and complain, just go somewhere else.

the main point is that it should be left up to the owners to either allow or not allow smoking.
