Anyone remember a Long Island band called Edna's Goldfish? Growing up here, they were the biggest thing since sliced bread. I saw Mustard Plug, Catch-22, The Pietasters, Midtown, and many others all opening for Ednas even though all those bands have bigger followings outside of long island. I also dig some of the 1st wave such as toots and the maytals, desmond dekker, and the skatalites. 2nd wave such as the english beat, and especially THE SPECIALS and a few third wavers besides the ones mentioned above, like the toasters, the pilfers, less than jake, etc. Man, I miss the old days of the long island ska scene with Edna's Goldfish, Step lively, Spider Nick and the Maddogs, the Skaflaws, and ASOB before everyone went emo. FUCK EMO
