I think that is a misunderstanding. I'm pretty sure we only use 10% of our brains AT ANY ONE TIME. There is no reason, evolutionarily speaking, for such a brain to evolve if it isn't utilized. After all, the brain consumes 20% or more of our oxygen and energy. If the brain weren't used, it wouldn't be energy efficient to evolve, because of the huge energy budget it has, not to mention birthing problems.

there is a book the holographic universe by michael talbot, i think, and it takes the discoveries of quantum physics combined with the mystery of paranormal stuff and argues that the reality we sense through traditional, understood means- the 5 senses- is actually just a reflection of a greater reality; what we perceive (right down to atoms- all physical reality) are in effect the results of processes occuring on a deeper level that we are not equipped to perceive... this theory is actually respected scientifically (it makes such perfect sense that the sticks-in-the-mud Can't call it crackpot- is one of a few theories that satisfactorily fit quantum mechanics, i believe...), it was put forward seperately by a quantum physicist (bohm) and a neurologist (pribram). talbot just added the paranormal stuff as evidence that the theory is plausible... the scientists of course stay far away from that... ha...
and of course this stuff is impossible to prove scientifically but there is interesting work going on... there's actually a group in new jersey who does experiments in remote viewing (seeing things nowhere near where you're located, and the like), and they i think want people to come participate in the experiments... if anyone's interested i'll look up the website... OH. and also i accept the very logical argument about senses and the future, but i just remembered that in the fourth dimension space and time are 'collapsed', after all, right? (i think the remote viewing people do experiments with involving time delays)...
sorry if this was rambling, i love this stuff.
    peace y'all.
    mary:)

For what it is worth, I am one of the very few people who have seen proof positive 100% inexplicable demonstrations of ESP. All the demonstrations I saw were from one individual who has true "psychic powers" Not staged, not infrequent, and totally reliable. Freaky shit, I'll tell you what. Phone rings, you ask this person who it is before they answer, and they are ALWAYS right. Seeing shit thru walls. Replying to specific comments in casual conversation that I DID NOT say outloud, to the extent of quoting my thought back to me when I claimed not to have said it aloud.

Hehe, this person is on the forums...

while i'm completely comfortable with the idea of perception outside of our 5 senses, having more than my own occaisions of such, i don't readily accept 90% of the "crackpot" theories as to why they exist.

    i'm a little psychic.........
    everyone is.
i tend to have weird premonition type dreams. when i'm asleep i somehow am more receptive to all those weird electromagnetic waves n other invisible phenomena which may account for what we call the sixth sense.
i'm not quite sure how they were able to prove this tho?
    we should research more.

i am new here so please be a little patient with me, if you can. ok, i am from Australia as my profile shows, and if you dont already know who the sceptics are i will explain.

i work for an organisation which is based in Australia which pays to send me and my fellow crew around the world to investigate supposed paranormal activity. we provide a 100 thousand dollar reward for anyone who can prove that they can perform a paranormal act.

recently returning from an expedition to new zealand, i have seen through my own experiences that there are a lot of people who need a reality check. not once, in 3 years of working have i seen one true paranormal act. i have seen a lot of people who definetely need psychiatric help. so to all those would be psychics or sooth sayers, before wasting any more of your own time with this fruitless pursuit, go check yourself in for psych evaluation and get some medication.

as a piece of proof, i ask a simple question, if one was psychic and could predict what i am doing or going to do why didn't you write a reply before i even started mine?

please stop wasting your own time and get yourself sorted out.
