I lived in Maysville about 3 months ago....my dad still lives there. I live in Flemingsburg. Ya know of that place? Haha....yea....I know of one other guy here that lived in Maysville....I think he moved to some other state, though.
Athens is pretty cool, lots of chill folks down there. There is most certainly a good scene of people in Ohio. I met and had a blast with many people going to Ekoostik Hookah shows when I lived in Ohio.
Ekoostik Hookah? *winces* A bit overrated if you ask me...of course, music is subjective, so that's my opinion, of course. I've noticed that the crowd pretty much sucks unless you're in the Yellow Springs or Columbus area and even then I've only met SELECT FEW people who would even qualify as "hip". I've noticed in the Midwest in general the crowds are pretty cliquy...if you're not part of the clique...you're sort of an outsider.
Yeah, I know were Flemingsburg is. Back in my farming days, I had to go to the stockyard there about every 2 weeks to check livestock prices, meet with other breeders, etc. Haven’t been to your town in a while though, last time I was there I was just passing through on my way to Ozzfest. (that was in 2004.)
Ozzfest '06 will be at the Germain Ampitheater in Columbus, OH on July 21. Bands include Ozzy, System of a Down, and Disturbed. Just thought I'd give you the date and location if you're makings plans to go. You can get the full info at www.ozzfest.com I probably won't be going this year though, I have a schedule conflict that day.
haha. My money is tied up for the rest of this year. I have to buy baby stuff. Maybe someday, though. I would love to have gone to the one with Marilyn Manson.
I live a few miles from the border of Ohio. I go to school in Toledo. I spend five days a week in Toledo. The people are conservative, uptight and not open to new ideas. I hate it there, but I'm a senior at the University of Toledo, so I'm just sucking it up until I'm finished. I will probably never return to Ohio (unless it's just to drive through there) after I graduate.
He has recieved alot of attention because of his appearance, but as with any musician, the important thing is the quality of the music.
Obvioulsy you don't know where to look, or maybe you are just so "hip" that us poor backward people are too fraid to talk to you.
Yeah.. I've found that no matter where I am in this country, all it takes to have a good time is knowing a few local cool.. sorry, 'hip' people. Annie, if my only experience with Ohio was with UT and all that goes with it, I think Ohio would be the last place I'd want to live. I hear all this talk about Yellow Springs, but I've never been there. Is it really that hip? I've found the hippest places in Ohio are in and around the Cleveland area if you know where to look. University Circle, Coventry and Little Italy, Tremont, Lakewood, the metro parks... there's a lot going on. -Mike
I know of one if I can reach him. My cousin George. His borg name would be 2 of 5. (It's an inside joke) But there's lots of hip people in Ohio. Even in Columbus!
woohoo!!! glad somebody mentioned Athens!! thats where I live and there lots of chill people here!!!!!!
