So where do their diamonds come from? Africa? Slave labor. Ethical diamonds, who the hell mines those? Im sure they are so handsomely paid risking their lives in a mine so some rich bastards can wear expensive jewelry half way across the world in america.
Oh yes, Mui, as if we buy jewelry to show off how much money we make. Sky-high prices? Yes, that's why my sterling silver peace sign rign only cost $4 with tax...And my CTR ring (also sterling silver) was $10... Please take your flaming sexism and shove it up your ass.
Lol yes im a sexist... Point out one common flaw found in a lot of women and you are deemed a sexist. But I was already expecting this... I know how the women's issues forums work
White gold baby. Looks just like silver. My engagement and wedding ring are white gold, as well as my hubby's. I just don't care for yellow gold anymore. I used to wear it years back, and I have a bunch of necklaces, bracelets, charms, and rings that are made of it, but I keep them in a keepsake box. Many of them are pieces that my parents gave me on special occasions while growing up, so they have sentimental value, and although I might not wear them, I never want to part with them. My engagement ring has a DIAMOND set in it, Mui. I'm a horrible rotten person for that one, aren't I? I never requested it, I never even expected it. My husband was the one who went out and bought it for me.
I like White Gold or Silver... I have natural red hair so Yellow gold look bad on me.. It makes me look washed out.... I prefer Whilte gold over silver obviously its a better metal and it doesn't tarnish like silver does
you know, I guess I would have to say silver, but all my jewlery is hemp or plastic!! HEE HEE! I disagree strongly with spending lots of money on jewelry, such as wedding/engagement bands and things like that. The amount of money spent on diamonds and gold in the USA could end world hunger I bet. If every person pawned off their jewels for money and donated it, the world would be in such a better shape. Everything else I we indulge in that I can think of right now (cars, expensive houses, clothing) at least serve a purpose. Jewelry is just show off stuff. I don't like it.
Silver's prettier than gold, IMO. And as far as prices go, sterling silver is usually pretty damn cheap...and if it's not, I'm not buying it. I don't like gold, and I don't like diamonds. There are chicks out there who are fucking anal about jewelry. Case in point, my cousin made her parents buy her princess-cut diamond earrings for her graduation and wouldn't accept anything else (as if she could fucking tell anyway). She's already got her diamond engagement ring picked out and won't accept anything but the one she wants...which costs a few thousand. So yeah, there are chicks out there who are all about jewelry and shit like that. But just because someone says they fucking prefer one thing over the other doesn't all-of-a-sudden make them a terrible person. And as far as this being a woman's issue...there are men out there who are ten times worse than women when it comes to jewelry or anything else that might interest 'em. Sure, lots of money is spent on jewelry from day to day, but you can apply that to anything else that someone might like to "consume." We live in a goddamn consumerism-driven society. It's fact. So to wrap this up...silver's cooler. Gold sucks.
You are going to make some guy a very happy husband! But seriously, I'm with you and the other poster. You don't have to spend a ton of money for pretty jewelry and silver IS the best option in this regard. And, our platinum wedding rings are cheap, cheap, cheap ones. I go to the local rock and gem show when it comes to town and I can get some great deals on items I make into my own jewelry. As far as the "serious stuff" sig other has bought me, he doesn't spend alot for money on it - I know, because he doesn't have alot of money! And pawn shops are a good place to shop for "serious" jewelry, it's recycled and usually much cheaper!
I don't like to shop at pawn shops because I feel like the stuff was either stolen or I think of some poor woman pawning her jewelry to get money for food for her kids or something. I don't know. It's stupid, but pawn shops scare me.
That is a point. But, I'm thinking of that scene in Thelma and Louise when Louise takes her jewelry off and gives it to that old man. I got the significance of that right away! Women don't usually sell jewelry that means something to them, they pass it on. I would think MOST things pawned were not loved that much anyway. That's true for me and the things I've pawned / sold. So I still think of it as recycling - a good thing. And you could always do a cleansing ceremony for stuff picked up second hand!
I know. It's a dumb thought. I just have a weird thing about pwn shops. horror stories pop into my head. I SHOULD think about it as recycling. That's a good idea. Thanks.
I think pawn shops are scary...... just the way they are presented. The bars, the cheap looking sign kind of like PAWN. Maybe its because its the only kind i see. I think that signs like LOAN and CHECKS CASHED look cheaper and less reliable than, say Loan, or Checks Cashed. I don't know why-less professional maybe?
Okay, finding an error in a small number of women and concluding that every single woman on earth is that way, and talking down to women in a degrading manner is sexism. If you'd get out of the paradigm of the pre-1900s way of treating women, maybe you'd vaguely begin to grasp that concept.
Same here. When I was engaged I insisted on a sterling silver ring that I liked (only $15!). I still have it (we are not together anymore and I paid for it anyway) and wear it all the time. My best friend is the same way...her & her hubby wear silver rings. I don't like diamonds....I think they're ugly and gawdy to be honest. I prefer beads to any silver jewelry though.
Just because i called my woman a bitch doesnt mean im a sexist... didnt say all women were the same either. and ya im living in the 1800s.
