True, but to still say that as a modern white male that your suffering is on the same level of a black male is still hugely skewed. Someone mentioned institutionalized racism. That is rampant these days. As well as unconscious bias and just downright rude behavior. Socioeconomic factors also play a huge role in that America's minority is mainly in the poverty level...so not only are they judged upon race but also financially discriminated. There is no doubting who has it worse off and to say you suffer just as much while being a white male is a slap in the face. To take up Rasta beliefs is just as good as spitting ontop of that slap.
Stubborn bastard!:cheers2: lol I applaud peoples' strong beliefs - that is as long as no one else is to be harmed...strong beliefs about certain things or strong LACK OF CARE of important issues really piss me off...
I didnt say whites go through the SAME suffering, we all suffer in some ways. Your to focused on race. I am talking about HUMANS. For fuckssake, Every animal on the planet can feel pain. I suggest thinking to yourself, and trying not to play the race card all the time.
I think arguing which race goes through worse suffering is a bit silly because 1) its generalizing which I generally ( ) feel lead nowhere in an argument, and 2) I forgot what I was talking about because I was distracted. Anyways, generalizations are kind of like stereotypes which nobody wants to hear about. rambling again.... I hope somebody sees the point of this post because I'm not being very articulate this evening.
I get your point, but I just get pissed off when somebody doesn't take in consideration race. Legal_Rasta: All races DON'T go through the same LEVELS of suffering as was mentioned - it would be like telling a Jew "Oh it wasn't that bad!" How would you know? How would I know how bad it really was? Brayingdonkey: GENERALLY certain races have been oppressed and submitted to terrible actions over the history of humans. It isn't a generalization, it is history. It is a fact that no matter where you go, there will be discrimination against some type of person.
Same levels sure, but thats not controllable. Saying it wasnt that bad is just like saying it WAS that bad. How would you know, unless you personall were involved? (idk what i mean by this im just throwing stuff out there, maby someone can make sence of it) Sure different people have felt different levels of suffereing or what ever, but either way, it is still possible that we all can feel the same. I like to think of it on a personal view not as a whole group.
what you kids dont understand is that a white person claiming to join a black-oriented (and a doctrine which includes hatred for the white race) religion is (yes, purpbythepound said it perfectly) a slap in the face to REAL rastas
Ok I think I remember what my point was... maybe. I guess what I was referring to is, the fact that you said a white male thinking he has suffered as much as a black female is a moot point because, undoubtedly some white men have suffered more than some black females. Not every black person is suffering, just as not every white person is living a spectaculous fair life. Theres lots of white people who went through attrocities, lots of Native American People who suffered, lots of Africans who suffered. On the same note, there are lots of white people who lived happy lives, lots of Native American's who lived happy lives so on and so forth. Suffering due to racial issues is dependent on more than race, its dependent on location (both temporal and regional) as well. Where I grew up there were never any differences in the way black and white people grew up. People were just people so my perspective is obviously going to be... I'll stop now because yet again, I've caught myself ramblin' Lord I was born a ramblin' man (doo doo doo) gotta love the allman brothers band.
In the big picture though: White males have a cake walk in life compared to black females. And big picture, I mean the world...globally? A black woman in Zimbabwe has shit compared to a black woman in South Chicago who has shit compared to me (white male in a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri) As far as where you grew up? That was your perspective, that is GREAT that you have that perspective. But the world does not see things the same way. If you and a black man both applied for the same loan, I can probably guarantee the interest rates will not be the same because STATISTICALLY blacks don't have as much money as whites do.
dude, if it includes hatred for the white race, why would i have a problem slapping them in the face???? ?????????????? Really, I dont claim to be rasta ever, but, i like the "bob marley version" of it. Go ahead, hate me, i dont really care.
And before you get the chance, I am 100% a brayingdonkey because If people try and push me or my beliefs I'm gunna stand my ground and bray till my point gets across to them.
RASTA. ... not as in. i am a rasta. fuck!. legal - marijuana Rasta- for all you know i could be talking abuot the god damn colors. But im not, im talking about bob marley rasta views. Are you happy. Dont answer, i dont care.
I need to go back to this just for a second: I put the idea of the race card in situations like these because it is always there...it is a matter of bringing it to the forefront of the mind. I don't PLAY the race card in any way, the race card is played by the oppressors/aggravators/ignorant drones. ___ A yuppie, to me, is someone that goes around and sucks up a certain style or, in this case, belief and takes it on as being something new and unique, in turn they disgrace the true originators. So basically, most of the world's white population is yuppie...
No, you deffinatley brought up race in religion. He said everyone feels pain, and you said, that its not the same level as black people. Sure race is there, so is religion. who cares. Everything is something.
This thread relates to rasta specifically...a religion that dwells on heavy race issues...he mentioned that whites' "suffering" is relative to all other races -- what suffering? when we had to build a boat to haul slaves around the world in? ugh!! why couldn't we have had the SLAVES build slaveboats?!?! See my point?
