I believe it is impossible to judge an entire subculture based off a couple of people. Even those who attempt to fit into a particular label still have unique personalities and levels of intelligence. Humans are all different, no matter what group they supposedly fit into. I suggest you take it as these few people are vain, unintelligent, and egocentric rather than preparing yourself to make an assumption about all people who enjoy listening to emo music or skating. Remember to always try to keep an open mind [IMG].

    I hate labels.

It's really funny to watch somebody fit into one, and then complain when somebody claims they aren't.. (or in some cases they get really mad when they are labeled, though even if it was unconciously, they decided to fit into that label.)

Perhaps if we stopped labeling others, then people wouldn't try to fit into these stupid labels and be themselves! (What an amazing concept!)

you will find stupid, vain, ego-centric everywhere!!! not just emo's or skaters in fact i know some skaters that are very very awesome. well in your statement of skaters do you include longboarders? and i agree with sir rubin; hippies can also be that, well the new hippies that don't know any better :)

I am very surprised by how many of you make harsh judgements and use silly labels. For claiming to be so accepting and loving, I would expect much differently in your responses.

    ok...ppl...
first of all i dont label people
people label themselves...i just got acquianted with all those guys and they intriduced themselves like that...emos and sk8ers...it's their choice
i'm not going to judge people ...i wont turn my back on a person if i learn he's emo or whatever...i'll just take him with a pinch of salt at first...and then...if he proves to be broad-minded...no problems

oh well i'm sure there are many "good" sk8ers etc but the ones i saw and talked to just seem stupid as hell! Talking only about themselves, not interested in your personality, boasting, looking at you only as at a sexual object...that sucks!

i dont call myself a hippie, that's not true...but people find it easy to label others to justify their narrow-mindness

just yesterday i was walking with my friend and we were unusually dressed so all we heard was "Emo!" (about me) and "Goth!" about her.
though we do not consider ourselves to be ones...

and Pasha, yeah i know hippies can be assholes smtimes...it all depends on a personality...

    thank you, lunarflowermaiden:)
    but i'm not offended:)
i love them all the same...even if they contradict me...

ignore it :), fads come and go.

they are probably just trying to find themselves or maybe they already did and thats what they like.

people can wear tie dye and rainbows everyday and still be the most ego-centric and vain person.
clothing can sometimes be there to show someones personality but it can sometimes be misleading.

has anyone noticed the triumph of new-old fads? ya know old stuff that is now cool and can be seen in the gap, hot topic, ect. i kinda noticed a few years ago there was a lot of 60's mod looking stuff. last year i noticed some 70's. then obviously 80's and maybe now 90's. its interesting. also does anyone know what those fur boot things are called? from the ankle to part up the leg is furr the rest is boot. its been 80 degrees here and i have seen some girls wearing them.

    Wow.

    Dumbest post ever.

HIPPIES ARE THE BEST!!!! Are you serious? Please, please tell me you are kidding. Judging an entire sub-culture by a few people? HAHA. You are not a hippie....

I've actually got respect for some emo/screamo bands (though I dont listen, myself) because I am a guitarist and know the skill of some of those players. And skateboarding is not a fad... its been around for like 50 years now...
