Kind of agree with you; although nuclear weapons might be going a little too far.

As for, whatever they want to grow, brew, cook, etc. I think the same laws that apply to alcohol should apply to these things.

I have EVERY right to have a gun. period. law Enforcement has them, criminals can get them, its my right to defend myself. Furthermore, the government has no right to take it away from me, or tell me what i can and cannot possess.

Yes, and not just in the USA. Think of all the school shootings and other revenge killings, and crimes of passion that would be avoided.

What's next? Knives, poisons, all sharp objects? When someone wishes to kill another, they will find a means. Killings didn't begin with the invention of guns.

"Guns don't kill people, people kill people!"

Yeah, but I think the gun helps.

America - 30,000 deaths per year from firearms.
UK - 14 deaths per year from firearms.

    Should you ban them?

    YES, FOR FUCK'S SAKE.

This article say 42 is a twenty year low, so where did you get 14?

Britain records 18% fall in gun deaths

By Nigel Morris, Deputy Political Editor
    Thursday, 8 January 2009

The number of deaths in Britain from gunshot wounds has fallen to a 20-year low despite concerns about levels of violent crime.

Most of the 42 gun-related deaths last year took place in London, the West Midlands, Manchester or Merseyside, with swathes of the country recording no homicides, suicides or accidental deaths from firearms. One third of the victims were younger than 21 and four of them were female. The Gun Control Network, which campaigns for tougher restrictions on firearms, disclosed the figure, which was a sharp drop on 2007, when 51 gun-related deaths were recorded in England, Wales and Scotland.

The network said it was worried that "despite the fall in gun crime, disproportionate number of incidents involve teenagers as victims and/or perpetrators". Fifteen people, including six young men, were killed in 2008 in London, which has suffered a spate of gang-related murders.

There were six deaths in the West Midlands, four each in Manchester and Merseyside and two each in Kent, Shropshire and West Yorkshire. Other deaths were recorded in Cornwall, Derbyshire, Glasgow, Hertfordshire, Humberside, Northumberland and South Yorkshire.

The Centre for Crime and Justice Studies at King's College London said its research also suggested the number of gun-related deaths was falling since reaching a peak eight years ago.

The centre's director, Richard Garside, said: "Gun homicide in England and Wales is low compared with such countries as the United States, Australia, France and Italy."

Guns don't kill people, gaping holes in vital organs kill people.

Boy, do Americans ever hold onto their guns.

Isn't that pretty much what brought about the creation of the United States as an Independent Sovereign Republic over two hundred years ago? Rights can only be given up, so perhaps it's time to decide when enough is enough, and maybe even reclaim some of what has been lost.

Actually the bill of rights was put forth as a rights that were seen to be natural born rights of humans, and specifically says any rights not mentioned should be assumed to be that of the states or people.

Guns are just one of many different tools that can be used to kill other people, but at the same time guns can also be used to prevent someone from killing you. In reality it is people who kill people, and not always with guns. Some use poisons, knives, scissors, ice picks, razor blades, hammers, axes, various heavy objects, ropes, ties, scarfs, wires, electricity, cars, trucks, drugs, pillows, sticks, stones, water, fire, or various methods with nothing more than bare hands. Eliminate guns completely and people will still be killed by other people. Humans are innovative, where there is a will they will find a way.

I'm surprised that no one has hijacked an airplane using a knife made from bamboo yet. It would be undetectable, and very sharp. And now new technology has brought us ceramic knives, which also would be undetectable, and very dangerous.

Perhaps we've now learned that airplanes can also be used to kill people.

Keep your guns, and concentrate on the persons wielding them. They will never be completely eliminated, and all that might be accomplished is disarming those who would not criminally use them.

Guns aren't the problem here. Crazy people getting guns and then killing people because "THEY TAKING OUR GUNS1!1!" is the problem.

The second amendment grants Americans the right to bear  arms, so we should uphold that. However, what can we do to reduce gun violence without banning guns? Not sure...

    1. Actually instilling gun safety and respect for firearms in people (most NRA groups that teach gun safety, and also, most parents who do it, do it with a great deal of flippancy, thus, the children learning said gun safety don't really respect it, and become adults with no real respect for gun safety, or guns as a whole. HUGE part of the problem)

    2. Ban HANDGUNS, handguns are only weapons, they are too concealable, and I don't just mean for the general populous, if we can't have them, cops can't have them, a p-90 is small enough for an officer to work with, has a single fire mode, and is a more accurate weapon than most sidearms officers have today, remove the fully automatic, and burst fire mode. turn it into an oversized semi-automatic. it would force an officer to think more before they used their sidearm, but wouldn't be so big as to risk their life.

    3. Assault rifles are okay, but not if you have any violent crimes, ever.

    4. Register all guns with a third party. not the government, because frankly gun registries have been used in horribly illegal ways too many times, and the existence of a government gun registry affects the value of the second amendment. We've had a decent track record with third party official entities, so this should work fine, third party entity would be created for this purpose, and would be audited each year. (by advocacy groups, and the government)

    5. Educate. Educate. Educate. Educate.

Every time someone buys their first gun, they go through a nine week training course. it is not optional. You do not get grandfathered in. if you do not get a passing grade, you don't get the gun. Any subsequent guns, you take a test on that specific gun.
