I don't think guns should be outlawed... as bad a rep as they have and as many killings there are due to gun related injuries, there are still a shyt ton of crazy, desperate people out there. I've been thinking about getting a gun myself because I always hear of people getting robbed and carjacked at gunpoint. You never know when something like that could happen to you. It's a sad fact, but people need to protect themselves from such occurrences. Just last week on the news at a stop light in the city that I've stopped at numerous times, 4 people came out of the woodwork and tried to steal someone's car. Nervous and distraught, the person floored it from the stop light and ran into a city transport van.

I vote no... not hell no, just no. As they say in GTA... "Remember to reload... it's fuckin crazy out there."

(Terrapin2190 is not a gun activist or enthusiast and does not endorse any for of communication in this forum) :biggrinjester:

One law that I think SHOULD be revoked though is one that states that you have to be cornered in the bedroom in order to shoot an intruder... total BS.

no... it just makes the vulnerable more vulnerable, surely?... i mean, we are not allowed to have guns here in UK, but peeps have them anyway.... it tends to be people with bad intent who have them... so the peeps who don't have guns, tend to get shot...

OK so by your logic if a criminal is ready to commit a violent crime you honestly think they would pause to think about it before they did it just because the law is harsh. I'll not convince you since you have your mind made up =)

point about the telling me what to do: I am grown up =) The point I was getting at was there is enough shit on my plate and plenty of people telling me just how to eat it. I don't really need the government's help with this issue. I legally own guns and I hope to god I never have to use it other than just out plinking on my range. more over, the last thing I need is someone like you telling me I should not be able to do something. I don't know you but I can tell you this, I would not want you involved in a decision that is my right to make =)

Not that you are a bad guy, I feel the same about my mom (she is scared of guns too).

Greatest nation in the world: Fuck yes it is. Where else would you want to live?

I think we should give everyone guns. Not only that, provide them with a full set of grenades, nukes, cluster bombs, anything and everything. Saying that stuff kills is dumb, it's people that use them.

what they should do is make gun barrels crooked, then when dumb yahoo wangsters shoot someone. They might actually hit the person they are shooting at. And not an innocent bystander ..

People that actually know how to shoot firearms, it wouldn't make a difference how much the barrel was crooked.. They know how to compensate for angle, wind, velocity ect.. People that love firearms have more patience and understanding of the discharge of a weapon and the consequences that may succumb..

Gun safety courses and target range classes should be part of every high school curriculum. They used to give driver's ed courses in high school. So what is more dangerous, a kid behind the wheel of a car, or a kid with a gun? A kid's going to handle a gun anyway at some point, so why not train them to handle it safely if the parents don't? Not doing so is like sending him driving on a highway without any driving instruction.

Wica... brutha..., no matter how abhorrent guns might seem, you totally owe it to yourself and your family to at least familiarize yourself with the basic operation of rifle and pistol... if only for the sole reason of having the knowledge to quickly render a weapon inoperable if necessary...:bobby:

OK, you get the free pass to play Dodge Ball on those days... :)

I guess the same logic can be applied to the forced sex education on youth. For the most part, it's not a bad idea since at some point most will engage in sexual activity and it's good to know something about it, but there may be somebody planning to be a nun. Who knows?

    Aren't you just a sweet-heart?
And by that same logic someone could argue that a stick of wood is sufficient to fulfill the allowance of the 2nd amendment. Of course, they would be wrong.
My point is that you're point about long guns being sufficient is completely arbitrary and self-serving. Long guns are not always practical.
We have the right to bear arms. Handguns are arms. Studies show they are naturally deterrent to crime.
I didn't "pretend to not get your point", I just think your point is fucking retarded.

wow this thread is still going? It always amuses me when people talk about how if people can own guns they should be able to own bombs and nukes ... bombs and nukes are indescriminate weapons you have little control of.. firearms on the other hand are controllable. and please people if you are going to debate specifictype of firearms .. educate yourselves as to what they really are.. if you call for an ASSAULT weapons ban please know what that really means

Even the definition of "assault" weapons keep changing. Used to be if you took a regular AK-47 and put a folding stock, bayonet, and a scope on it. That makes it an assault weapon all of a sudden. Now it means any scary looking gun.

Put a loon behind any gun, and that gun becomes an assault weapon...
