Should circumcision without consent be illegal?

I don't think circumcision needs to be illegal, but people should be more informed before making that decision. I am not too happy about being circumcised, but I can't fault my mom for being a silly 17-year old girl with traditions (and possible penis envy). No son of mine will be circumcised. It ends with me.

 

all circumcision boils down too now is a cosmetic reason. purely for show. it has been happening for over 100 years so most women are used to it. and in most of the documentaries i have seen its the women that pushes it not the father. the father in most cases is neutral or against it until his partner or the doctor convinces him.according to US law if the father is against it the mother can overrule him.

it is illegal to "permanently disfigure a child" so why is circumcision allowed and tattoos not. 1 Conviction of mayhem (permanently disfiguring a child) can result in life in prison with the possibility of parole. where is the line?

 

Yergl. that is only a step on the path. when enough people find out how barbaric this truly is. i think they will demand that it becomes illegal. the same thing happened with female circumcision. people found out what it was and that knowledge sped like wildfire. and now female circumcision is completely illegal. now its time men did almost the same thing to ban male circumcision.

 

i will admit that i am very angry about me being circumcised. i have talked to my family and found out it was done when i was 4. about a month after my birthday. thats one hell of a birthday present. this present consisted of irreversible physical damage and 20+ years of vivid nightmares. i was awake during the procedure and given no pain meds. so i felt every thing. that will seriously mess a person up

i think the doctor willingly tricked my mom. (my mom is not that hard to trick) he told her that my foreskin was infected. and that my entire penis would fall off!(it was not, it was a UTI a urinary tract infection. witch is easily treated even in the 1990's)and nothing ever just falls off the body i have yet to find any infection besides flesh eating disease (which i have never had) that would cause the foreskin or the entire penis to fall off) mom asked about antibiotics and the doctor gave her either the weakest antibiotics the had or a placebo) . then on my return visit the doctor said that we should just circumcise him and he will be fine. and of coarse she believed him because he is a doctor.

as to why it was done while i was awake with no pain meds i dont know

It should be illegal for people under the age of consent, or unless supervised by a medical professional, such as the case where the child suffers from phimosis or other issues.

There is a lack of evidence, however, that circumcision leads to an increased risk or erectile function or loss of sexual pleasure. If anything, some studies have shown a slight increase in pleasure, but there have been so many studies done that presents a mixed bag or neutral results. Overall, it's mostly cosmetic.

 

i have found a list of more then 400+ reasons doctors have given. i dont think that doctors can be trusted about this. the doctor lied to my mom to get her to consent.

ok if a guy choses to- let him be- your body is the way it is naturally for a reason- i could never ever imagine taking my child to get an unecessary surgery- causing my kid any type of pain (phyical and emotional) would make my physically ill and i would never forgive myself-
PERSONALLY i rather my men UNcircumsized- its damn sexy and its the way you were made- not to say there is anything wrong with the way a circumsized penis looks- i wouldnt say "oh your circumsized- i dont like that" what you've got is what you've got- i hear that alot of girls (in the us) dont like uncircumsized guys. thats bullshit. come to NZ! its on like donkey kong

 

circumcision is child abuse

 

i think doctors that push/suggest/promote this are sick and must be stopped. the people that are training this need to be stopped
i got into a fight with a nurse about this. she couldn't give me any proven reason to have it done.
her first excuse was "babies wont remember the pain" i said just because he might not remember doesn't make it right.

she then said "it would make him look normal" i then said thats his decision not mine but i will give him all the information i can and he can make the decision when he is old enough

her last excuse was "its easier to keep clean". i told her if he is taught how to clean it right. then he would be able to clean it

 

well to be honest when cutting yourself was an option it was done for the sake of hygiene
it really want done as a political movement,the few girls i have known say they would have their sons cut,and just about every guy i know that wasnt cut always had problems with infections this is not just my opinion it is back up with hard data

 

my parents decided it was my choice when i was old enough to make an informed decision, when that time came i decided i was a little attached to it. i did the same for my son and i will do the same thing if i have any more boys

 

Why are some people so angry about their penises?

 

I have a hard enough time stuffing my Johnson into my pants as is, if I had an extra 3 or 5 pounds of foreskin to deal with I would be forced to go pant less.

Circumcision was a necessity in my case, I'm sorry I cannot vote in your poll.

 

I believe parents should only get the circumcision done for medical reasons, ie a fused foreskin. Otherwise I dont see the point.

I'd never get my son circumcised, if I ever had a son that is.

 

If you can circumcise your baby, I should be able to tattoo mine.

It is unnecesary, does cause problems for some, and can be done at a later date if the child chooses.

To the cleanliness argument: Your teeth would stink if you didn't brush them, but I don't see anyone cutting off their lips.

To the reduced STD risks argument: Unsafe sex is unsafe. Use a condom. Educate people about safe practices. Provide condoms for free.
