I'll have to call the cable company before I start messing with that stuff. I'll probably end up going to another site though. I like it here, but this is becoming a hassle. Some of these proxy's kick you off if you're idle for more than a few minutes. And some forum functions such as smiley's don't even work.

 

i eat fairly well, no junk or much fat. smoking coke years ago probably not helping, smoking tobacco currently not helping.

 

It's hard to quit smoking. My doctor is constantly bitching at me about it. But he doesn't understand what kind of a habit it is. It becomes integrated into basically every aspect of your life. When I go to the store the amount of money I spend on food depends on how many packs of cigarettes I need. No shit. It's the first thing I do when I wake up (unless I have to shit) and the last thing I do before I go to bed. Before and after meals. While having coffee. Or reading, watching tv, on the internet, driving, etc., etc., etc. It's involved with everything.

Just change ur DNS servers..look in the computers and Internet forum I made a thread about it, I'm sure there are others.

You say you don't have a router, and just a modem. The router is integrated into the same box as the modem. Do some research on the model of the box you have to learn the default username and password.

Run ipconfig at command prompt to get the gateway IP address, this is how you access the router confit page. Do a hard reset, login and replace the DNS servers from your ISP with either OpenDNS name servers or google name servers


Should fix things and you shouldn't have to use a proxy.

I got my first computer back in '04. My sister kept after me to get internet, but at the time I only had a basic idea of what it was. Then I finally got it, and I was amazed at all you could do. I'm curious about a lot of things, and it was like having a magic answer box in my house, lol. I was hooked. It was a steep learning curve though, and I basically had to teach myself through trial and error. I'm a lot better than I used to be, but I'm no computer whiz, that's for sure.
