I'm pretty sure the Cave-In version has that bit from The Lemon Song on it. Might have imagined it though.

Krzysztof Penderecki’s “Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima.”

eerie strings that swell up till it sounds like a million people screaming at once.... it'll at least give you the chills...

I just stuck up a link for Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy for anyone that needs a bit of freaking out. I think the video for windowlicker was a bit fucked up aswell, nowhere near as much as Come to Daddy but still fucked up.

I was driving home from SF on Easter Sunday at 2:30am, teetering on the brink of delirium (after having 5 hours of sleep the night before and being awake for 20 hours). I was listening to Art Zoyd's album Faust, and when the 3rd track started-- two panning timpani beating out a 5:4 polyrhythm over these creepy string and harpsichord lines-- I was pretty freaked out. Especially since I was driving under this stone-arch railroad bridge, and it seemed like I was on another planet...

Some other good "scary" groups/composers/pieces: Univers Zero, Coil, Morphogenesis, David Hykes & The Harmonic Choir, George Crumb's "Black Angels", Ligeti's "Atmospheres"/"Lux Aeterna"/"Requiem", pretty much anything by Stockhausen-- once a friend and I got stoned and listened to Stockhausen's orchestral "Gruppen" backwards on the turntable, it was an unforgettable experience...
