I shave because it makes me feel better, i feel insecure when i'm all hairy ... although i do think it is crap that women are put under much pressure to shave as of course its only natural ... we're born this way as are men. Everyone should be Au Naturelle! xxx
I shave my armpits all the time. My legs... I shave up to my knees, but not usually my thighs because I used to be a bad cutter and that was where I did most of it, so the scars get irritated and red and bumpy if I shave over them... I only do MAYBE every 2-3 months (or longer). I shave my arms, usually... sometimes I just ignore them. And my crotch, well... I *usually* shave all the time, but sometimes I just ignore it for a week or two. I go commando, so I don't want to be getting any fuzzies caught in zippers - ow?
I shave but not every day unless I know people will be seeing the area or that I will be getting some. I am not as religous about shaving as I used to be.
haha I decided im not going to shave, its un- natural. I feel like a shaved monkey when I shave. Hair grow for reasons, Im a hippy in my heart. I love my earth, I dont take what my mother nature gives me for granit. I give my vegan love, I give my love and I give my peace.
You'll look much earthier + sexier with your natural fuzz. Not to mention save on time/money by not shaving + no discomfort of scratches, cuts, etc.
Right on aeshna5! I totally agree with you. Now, after 73 votes, 23%+ SHAVE NOTHING!!!...... YEAH Almost one out of every four women that voted. That is great. Associating the descriptive words clean, hygenic, feminine, pretty, and so on......with shaving is inacurate. Associating those words with shaving/waxing is proof that you have been conditioned by popular cultures. It's all conditioning, or brainwashing. Modern industrial societies are full of the "ultimate consumers". I dislike pop culture so very much.
i recently went for a wax job and did my legs, full bikini line, arms, armpits and tummy. It wasn't as painful as I thought and it's lasted quite a bit, and I like that the hairs are growing back really thin and smooth.
I shave my legs and armpits in the summer but during the winter I don't really shave my legs because I wear pants everyday anyways. I really don't even shave that often during the summer because it takes too long. It's usually about once every 2 weeks.
I shave everything once a week or once every two weeks, longer in the winter....I like it but its not a huge deal for me to shave or not...
I don't shave. It has to do with my hate for our appearance-based society, and I suppose it's an act of feminism, too. It's a little bit for the shock value, I suppose.. yeah, I'm an honest person. I wont lie. I think our culture is too worried about a person's appearance, and hell, if a man can be hairy.. why can't I? Stupid society. Women aren't just tools to be sculpted like Stepford Wives for men and other bitchy girls.. we have a lot to learn. After all we've fought for as women, we're still taking these "womenly" roles.. and oh, lord, don't get me started on the music industry.. ever listened to "My Humps?" Aurrrgh.
I shave my legs, arm pits & arms. I veet my bikini-brazilian style. I hate body hair on myself & my bf. I'm also ridiculous with the tweezing of the eyebrows. I actually went for lasering on my eyebrows a few years ago.
Naturegoddess, I respect your right to remove whatever hair you choose, but your moniker does seem at odds with your obsessive depilatory habits!
Used to shave but I have super fast regrowth and I really don't like that. Started waxing and never looked back. Waxing lasts longer and the regrowth is softer, lighter and gets less with each progressive wax. I still shave my armpits, but legs and bikini line get waxed - either G-string or Brazilian depending on my preferences at the time. Yes it is a bit sore, but your skin also gets used to it after a while.
Hippiechild, shaving is not "cleaner." In fact, shaving, especially your armpits and your pubis, only promotes microcuts, which let IN bacteria ect. Your are actually more susesptible to infections when you shave. This is the reason that ANY hospital worth a damn no longer shaves womyn in childbirth, there was actually a higher post partum infection rate among shaved mothers. There is nothing "dirty" about hair.
I used to shave alot, but I wish I had never started I occasionally shave, but I'm not to bad about it. I just shave when I feel like it, which isn't very often. I sometimes pluck (yes, pluck ) my legs with tweezers if I have absolutely nothing to do. It doesn't seem to hurt me as much as it hurts others if they try plucking. Even though I'm of mediterranean descent, and a bit hairier than usual, it's not too noticable anyway. I hate that just shaved feeling, I love feeling the prickle (teehee!). Have smooth skin on my legs makes me feel like a bald baby . ... I'm a sometimes shaver.
Makemangos- I agree the clean-shaven, bald look does seem a bit strange-even though most women are like that these days. I've always preferred the natural hairy look to legs, pits, etc + I've been lucky to have partners who were comfortable with that. But I guess of those women who are generally unshaven, some will very occasionally (or more) shave- either for formal occasion, self-conscious about publicly baring obvious hairiness during shorts season or just on a whim. As a student I had a g/f who had quite dark hairy legs- she never shaved in winter, but when first hot weather arrived + she wanted to wear shorts, she would shave her lower legs (didn't do her thighs which had finer hair anyway). Though I preferred them hairy, I did enjoy the feel of her legs as they started getting bristly again. I doubt she shaved more than 6/7 times in summer, so they were usually stubbly to greater or lesser degree as she found shaving a chore. As summer wore on she seemed to get less self-conscious, so by September they tended to be pretty hairy again, but I enjoyed the different sensations as hairs grew longer. My current partner hasn't shaved her legs for over 3 years which I like!
