I heard obama say the Constitution was meant for Colonial times.

Obama Says Constitution Flawed, Framers Didn’t Get It Right

Here obama says: "It was a remarkable political document."
And: "The fundamental flaw that continues to this day"..

I think you've taken that out of context -- shame on you. I believe he was talking about slavery. The Founding Fathers could have abolished slavery -- Massachusetts already had -- but failed to.

Sunfire LLC was awarded a 23 million dollar contract from the DOD for "NIGHT RAID" equipment. This is enough gear to equip 30,000 to 50,000 men. This is in motion as I write, and the war in Iraq is over! Where do you think this equipment will be used?
Now anybody deemed as a "Terrorist" can be snatched from their home or off the street, and locked away for the rest of their lives, tortured, or even just executed outright, all nice and legal per the TRAITORS who are responsible for passing this ANTI-AMERICAN law!!!!!!!!!

This is just retarded and makes anything else you say less meaningful.

FEMA nothing. Careless power hungry puppets of puppets, yes. And it will be bad a few administrations down the line, with what's happening. It's not the guys who make the rules you have to worry about, necessarily. It's the guys who inherit the rules.

Congress is not supposed to pass unconstitutional bills and presidents are not supposed to sign them into law, but the Supreme Court remains as our last defence against an unconstitutional law from remaining on the books.
Failing that, we either vote for wiser people to office when the next election comes or as the Supreme Court justices die or retire, we hope that we have a wiser president around to nominate a better justice and a wiser Congress to confirm that nomination.
These acts of wisdom have to happen often enough that eventually the laws are restored to conformity to the constitution.
If the system is rigged so that that our power to amend the Constitution is neutered, we may be forced to overthrow the government by any means necessary and restore the Constitution and thus our rights.

I get the sneaking suspicion that all the "back to the constitution" extreme right wing talking points we hear recently means "back to the constitution without the bill of rights"...... sure looks like they are trying to remove as many of the amendments as they can. Without the bill of rights we don't stand a chance.

    What do ya mean?
They need a Constitutional Convention to do any thing. Last one was decades ago.

    Well lets see.......

The NDAA gets rid of the whole fair and speedy trial deal.

Occupy has proven that our first amendment rights are pretty much null and void.

Unfair and biased drug testing, with more on it's way, is chopping up the 4th amendment as does the Patriot act.

They are doing a pretty bang up job with out a Constitutional Convention.

Well, you sure aren't hearing it from me!
I want all those rights preserved. The Constitution was just a broad framework to get the ball rolling and the Bill of Rights are essential to preserving the liberties that the Constitution very broadly sets out.
Rather than abandoning the bill of rights, we may need additional rights encoded in recognition of the constitutional issues imposed by technological advances.

The problem with both liberals and conservatives is that they are trying to use the courts to circumvent the Constitution (and the Bill of Rights).

I am moderate to liberal on most issues, but rather than having alternating generations of liberal and conservative courts constantly negating the Constitution, I want to see additions to the Bill of Rights and additional civil liberties on the books, provided they serve to preserve liberties rather than infringe on them.

I'll use my support of nude recreation as an example. I would like to see nudity decriminalized nationwide rather than having individual states, cities and counties declaring the human body illegal from one year to the next, from one jurisdiction to the next. Such a law would finally get the government out of my clothes closet and let ME decide what to wear!

The politicians wont change the way they get money for voting for corporate interests over the interests of the 99%. Its time to demand change.
