Speaking of the Constitution, I'm pretty sure that if the Founding Fathers came back to life today, they'd immediately call for another revolution......

    Bob,

I think that militia groups tend to be right wing. But I don't think that defenders of the US Constitution should be limited to right wingers.

If enough moderate to liberal patriots infiltrated militia groups, it might give them the balance they need to really succeed. If only a few of us infiltrate a militia group, it would be a waste of your time and just piss the right wingers off.

The worst case scenario is the termination of our civil rights in order to "protect us". But a scenario nearly as grim would be a revolution that leaves hip forum types out of the picture in a new America.

The government has cracked down on militia groups, infiltrated them and unfortunately, one militia group has not risen to help others when they are persecuted.

We need a People's Liberation Army that cuts across all sectors of society and yes, that includes moderates and liberals, too, not just conservatives and right wingers.

The Feds would use any violence and other illegal activity we engage in as a pretext to break up our militia group, so if we intend to overthrow the US Government, we must remain within the law as long as necessary. We would do well to study Al Quaida's tactics. They had cells that operated nearly autonomously but had limited communication between cells when absolutely necessary. They used couriers and avoided the heavily monitored channels.

We would need to infiltrate the US military, police, etc... all the agencies that many folks here don't like.
When the revolution comes, we will need insiders operating under deep cover.
The Feds will try their best to plant moles in our midst. We can do the same to them.

We will need friends in other countries who believe in the freedoms that all true democracies have or should have.

The Feds will be playing whack-a-mole with us. They will stop some of us, but they can't get us all, not by a long shot.

My words are pure conjecture and theory of course. As long as the Federal government supports freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of religion, etc and supports the US Constitution, they will never have a thing to worry about from me or like-minded citizens! ;)

There's a difference between being brainwashed and being naively optimistic. I voted for Obama - hoping that he would be able to deliver on even a small percentage of his campaign promises (which, if you really look at his record, he has accomplished a great deal). However, every reform accomplished has been perverted and watered down by the Washington Privatization League of corporate, pharmaceutical, insurance, banking and energy cartels. Obama's appointment of Geitner and that other twat from Goldman Sachs (not to mention his reappointment of Bernanke - as if he had real choice) only confirmed my suspicion/fear early on that this "representative republic" is truly under the complete and utter control of a wealthy elite, and that the government serves only as public relations firm - a liason - between the people who truly own and run this nation and its so-called citizens (subjects). I'm not ashamed that I voted for Obama - who the fuck else was I going to vote for McCain/Palin? I think Obama's presidency is the best thing to happen to this country since the counter culture - because it has drawn attention to the fact that this nation is in fact a Corporatocracy and people are starting to wake up.

I agree with you Jam--I've been wrong about Obama. He's taking huge amounts of money from oil, pharma, ect. Motherfuckers--all of 'em. I'm looking into Rocky Anderson--I heard him again on Democracy now.

Well said. Same feeling here. Kinda like going home from the club at closing time with the 'better then nothing' person. It just shows how entirely entrenched 'wealth' is in Washington. We've opened the door a little but have not been invited in for dinner.

I thought it had failed? Seven out of the 100 didn't sign it so it didn't pass? Or am I behind the times?

Britain had an exposé on your prison systems, how America locks up 1% of its people and then basically uses them for slave labour.. That they are wanting to increase that number is
Phenominal, surely it should be trying to be decreased??

I fear, that being ruled by a dictator is better than what America is ruled by... A company.

And a company so devoid of human decency that they systematically destroy their own countries communities whilst terrorising the world.

It is not a good time to be American.

No, no, it passed handily. The vote in the Senate was 93-7. To pass, it needed 60 votes. Even very liberal Senators, like John Kerry and Carl Levin voted for it. Madness.
