When I was saying bye to my grandpa today I gave him a big hug and said "take care eh" haha, how bloody Canadian is that?

On top of that I also watched the oilers game, smoked a dube, ate some bacon, had a beer in a buddies basement, daydreamed about paddlin down the missinabi river and wore my woolen lumber-jack coat. Shit just 20 minutes ago I was thinking about how I wanted to listen to the Hip while I go to bed tonight. There's just way to much canadiana goin on round here I reckon.

and no, never said aboot, never heard aboot, or oot... or oot and aboot. It just don't happen oot and aboot here

The spelling of "eh" reminds me of the phoneme /ɛ/. "Ey" would be more like it.

I say "eh?" all the time. I'll write it on message boards and MSN too. None of my friends say it though, I think I picked it up from a French Canadian girl I grew up with because her family would say it alllllll the time.

I don't really think aboot it, it's all really instinctive, eh?

Ha! A day or two ago I was thinking about how British people seem to say innit a lot. Or at least they do in my imagination...
So I guess that line could be translated into British:
"I don't think about it, cos it's all really instinctive, innit?"
    Ha, or American:
"I don't really think about it, cuz it's all real instinctive, y'know?"
    Or something like that.

I say "Eh?" occasionally. I'm usually more of a "Man" or "Dude" kinda guy. :sunglasse

Don't say EH? emphatically. Then you sound like someone imitating an eh? lol... Isn't it "Fuckin eh?" - that's how I always write it. eh is like the greatest invention of all time - both a question and an answer to the question

    its definitely fucking a.

Although, "Eh" is not uniquely canadian...it is used pretty extensively in every english speaking country. I noticed it far more down in New Zealand then in Canada. lol, like half the canadians i've met get so embarrassed by eh and think its like an american conspiracy.
