You can't win with a Jesus freak or any other kind of evangelical or other dedicated conservative Christian. The best you can hope to do is get on their nerves. At least if you show some knowledge of what they're talking about, it will dissuade them from thinking you're an ignorant slut who requires their tutelage.

Years ago I was a trainer in the Evangelism Explosion program. I taught people how to win souls for Jesus. If you like, I can teach you the two "diagnostic questions" and their "correct" answers.

Ohh i know, the only thing i need to see if debating is when you ask a question or say a statement and they have a 10 second pause because you gave them a answer above all they've thought, shut dowwwn. Then they go off again..but those 10 seconds...ahh :2thumbsup:

 

You could always take an extreme opposing view - like the idea that the Essenes were the practitioners of the original teachings of Jesus, under Jesus' brother James the Just in the Jerusalem church, and that Paul was intent on teaching doctrines that opposed the Essenes, and had James murdered, so therefore all of modern Christianity is built on the corrupt teachings of a false apostle. Better do some research first, though...

he is a pansy...I know I mentioned how I suspended his cell phone for not paying me. Well, instead of coming out here and talking about it, he goes and gets a new cell phone plan - I know this because he still gets his mail here.

Also, he didn't show up to my family's Christmas on Sunday or my mother's on Tuesday. He's such a selfish prick. And I do EVERYTHING for that kid - register vehicles, pay bills, take care of my father's things and estate. And he fuckin shits on me in return.

Sorry, didn't mean to rant...I'm just unbelievably heartbroken right now

Sometimes you need to be able to let someone go in your heart - which is in a way more loving than coddling them.

But I always take comfort in this little bit of wisdom from Chuck Palahniuk:

Yeah, I gotta let go...it just breaks my heart that he's my only brother and my father wanted nothing more than for us to get closer, but we've grown farther apart...its tough
