Balbus, it's not all just fear. I've lived in bad neighborhoods. Where you hear gun shots going off at midnight right outside your house. Where racist groups liked to put burning crosses in your yard, and people pull a gun out on ya cuz you called em chunky. I know someone who shot another guy 3x for kicking his car during an argument. I know a kid who accidentally hanged a kid n then shot him. Or people who will run into your home and backyards and steal all your precious metals to scrap. I don't mean to fearmonger but that stuff really exists. I don't believe that "all America is scared of their neighbors" like you seem to blanket the entire population. Not by a longshot. There are many neighborhoods and areas where stuff like that simply isn't a reality. But there are times when self-defense is a priority. It's just like a multi-tool or a condom. Better to have and not need, than to need and not have.
I totally agree. So, I should go live in a cave then? Crime rate in US has nothing to do with guns. It is the reason. Well, you are SO SO gung-ho to prove I am wrong some how, that you take up PAGES of internet to whine about what i say or don't say... Nobody goes thru that much to prove a body wrong unless they have some issues... I think you are acting rabid. Honey, this ain't agitated, this is entertained. Laced with a morbid fascination for the strange. You've asked ME the same thing. Many times. So I'm addressing it. Again. You seem to be totally convinced that anyone who thinks people should be free to have guns can't possibly be trying to make the world a better place. Correct? That's just crazy. Because it is. NOBODY walks around with gun out and sighted in on EVERYONE all day long. They'd go to jail instantly and never be able to get another thing done... Where do you guys come up with this stuff? OK so not the same exactly. But tell us, HOW do you keep guns out of the "wrong" people's hands while allowing "law abiding" (by whose standards?) people have them?? Where are YOUR answers? Come on, HOW do you do it? REALISTICALLY.
Why do YOU keep insisting it's fear? We're MORE afraid of being run over/into by a distracted driver ie: drunk/texting /cell phone driver than we are of Thugs with guns. In some cities this might be true, but it's a very small percent of the population "less than 1%". You keep implying we have a nation wide society issue, when in fact its isolated within a small group of people "gangs" And they're not All citizens, let alone fellow. Funny how you glanced over or didn't bother to read the poll of "Perception of Fear" was it because it showed people in the UK live in fear too? A higher % than the USA . Shouldn't you worry about your own first? And you have gathered that with the 20 or so that you have spoke with here? Because No ONE can live up to your standards or definition of debate. That and more than half of what you post are personal attacks or way off topic. Even tho studies/polls show more of your fellow citizens live in fear than we do here. I find your fascination"concern" odd. Finally! something WE all can agree on .
so why is it so damn easy to get a gun in the US? why not make it harder? at the moment, you can order a fucking assault riffle via internet and credit card. does this make any sense at all to you? i dont like guns yes, but if someone wants one - well, why not? but he should have a proper education on them, and he should at least be looked at a LITTLE BIT bevore he is allowed a gun. you dont let ppl drive cars without a driving licence, and a car is NOT built to kill. so why is it so damn easy to get a damn gun that has only the purpose of killing?? someone may explain that to me? well, the UK society at least doesnt allow any morron to order weapons per internet. ** note: on the US driving licence: to be honest, a pure joke. at least in detroit, where it took a cousin of mine exactly 1 week to get his driving licence.
thats a fair question, goes back to the constitution, the US constitution and the state constitutions spell out that the law of the land is that citizens can own weapons, but nowhere does it say they have the RIGHT to drive.
Yet they "cars' kill 50,000 people in the US every year, homicide by firearm 13,000. Cigarettes kill 500,000 a year. The majority of guns don't serve that purpose. YOU need to read up on Buying a Gun on the Internet, not as simple as you think. It's safe to say neither do we .... The UK society allows a cctv to monitor EVERY Moron. And you call US morons?
yes people should be able to own firearms,it is one of our rights.Like Tsurugi said they are no more dangerouse than anything else, just have to respect them.In the wrong hands a gun is a bad thing, but so is anything else.
More support for less regulation can be found by the very people trying to enforce gun laws; the federal bureau of alcohol, tobacco, and firearms. Story continues below http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/node/6829
first of all, the US have the oldest and most obsolete constitution in the whole world. secondly, the US have a happy tradition to add rules to the constitution, so, the whole point is to add a passage that forces ppl to be at least a bit qualified if they want a weapon. cigarettes should be banned. and a cars intention is not to KILL ppl but to get ppl from "A" to "B". yes, on the way from "A" to "B" there happen accidents, quite often even. but they are that: accidents. bullshit. a gun is built to kill, thats its very purpose of existance, wether they are used to kill or not. thats like saying "an army is made to keep peace". to quote an old and wise man: "the purpose of an army is to kill people and to destroy things. and if we kill enough people and destroy enough things, then maybe we can convince our enemys, that we will kill and destroy everything left if they dont surrender." a gun is not built to cook, not built to dig with and it is no intrument of peace. its built to kill, like it or not. i have yet to meet one that isnt. point is, i dont want to disarm anyone. i dont want to forbid weapons. but honestly, can you come up with one single reason, why ppl shouldnt prove they are fit to posess a weapon?
are you calling Americans idiots? 1 - Offensive 2 - this is an opinion 3 - cite sources I will resume this debate later, I need to go to my Constitutional Law class then after that I have to attend the state and the the ideal society
no, i am just stating a fact. the US has the oldest constitution in the world. it IS obsolete. the only way it is still working is the myriads of additions to it. just my personal experience.
No it isn't, you just made that up, per usual. They're called amendments. There is, you have no clue so you assume there isn't. Nice twist,Not. I said the majority of the guns in the US held by citizens aren't used in killing Humans. This is fact. So your point in posting here is trolling? And personal attacks, that's 2 good reasons to see you off. Already have, how could you miss it ?
then tell me, when was the US constitution written? easily, i got the impression since the online shops only wanted my credit card number ^^ thanks.
Which online shops, post a link, no more of this take my word for it. Since there are so many linking to 1 shouldn't be a problem at all. 1787 San Marino excerpt, The Constitution of San Marino, enacted in 1600, is the world's oldest constitution still in effect.[2
The U.S. Constitution was drafted on September 17, 1787. It was officially ratified and became effective March 4, 1789. The first ten amendments (the "Bill of Rights") were ratified December 15, 1791. The US Constitution holds the distinction of being the oldest working constitution in the world today. The runner-up is Norway, whose present constitution was adopted in 1815. (Some argue that Greece's Mega Ritra of Hios - from the 8th century - is the oldest, but it is not the supreme law of the land.) stupid Norwegians they are totally behind the times, must be why they are still whaling, SO ARCHAIC!
for me as an european the US doesnt look like a modern democracy. alone the power that the president is able to wield is more than a bit disturbing. no direct votes. was it silat that refused to swear on the constitution because it allows a legal dictatorship? and i was talking about constitution still operating.
Still waiting for a link to a Gun Shop that ONLY ask for credit card #. San Marino Constitution is still in effect, it has had a few amendments. Don't you bother clicking links? Well, were you placing that order from the USA? Or Austria, which wouldn't help your argument. And, when calling Us atleast spell it right. "Moron"
So, You hate everything about America and Americans, what does this have to do with Gun Control? I'm getting the impression your opinion might be slightly biased.
hate? i dont hate the US, nor have i written anywhere that i hate this country. on the contruary, i find the US quite fascinating. I mean, there really arent many countries that have such a sense of mission (i hope thats the right translation, there are some words that dont have a good equivalent). also, there arent many countries that have such a high grade of every day - propaganda and indoctrination. on top of that the US is one of the most dangerous countries of the world - yes, as an US citizen that may doesnt seem so, but its true.
