Imho you can't dismiss the thought that it is in part the over senstive nature of the prisoners.. and it is imho a method and means to 'bad mouth' the americans at any given opportunity.. I apreciate what your saying and i agree to a point it is a failure of sorts on the part of the americans. I still hold the view i was trying to convey in my prev' post so i will try and not repeat myself.. Because when was the last time you highlighted the 'good' issues in relation to the american military and there handling of prisoners ?.. For that matter it has been a while since i have even gave it a second thought to be fair. I personaly get flooded with news about the wrongs the military, sorry a few individuals are doing..It is generaly a sweeping statement from people that don't support the war (present company excluded) ..it is used to perpetuate a great myth imho.
What are the "good" issues? Should it make news when a soldier doesn't make an Iraqi eat out of a toilet? Is it that rare? Since I was against this war in the first place I don't even think there should be all these prisioners, especially since the Red Cross has reported that so many are innocent, but end up being treated like they are guilty anyways. Accodring to a Red Cross statement: "It quotes intelligence officers who estimate that between 70 percent and 90 percent of those imprisoned "had been arrested by mistake," often in cases in which soldiers used excessive force in the process." http://edition.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/05/10/red.cross.report/ This is a little bigger than a few individuals. "Good" would be going above and beyond humane treatment of prisioners. The US cant even seem to give them humane. And innocent people are being treated like criminals - worse than we treat the American criminal. You wont convince me there is any good to report that should take any presidence over the terrible way these prisioners (most whom are not even criminals) are being treated. But this is off topic anyways, Sadam has got it better than any of the other detainees, regardless if he was unwittingly front page in his undies.
