I offer a solution. Have the US and the UN control the Iraqi area in the same way they controlled it under sanctions. Allow this figurehead government to get their act under control. But don't allow them to participate anymore freely than Saddam's regime did, until they can prove that they have their populus under control. Pull out American troops and confine the area by air strike control, like it was previously. Why wouldn't this work?
They? You mean WE, as in WE THE PEOPLE. I don't expect change to come from WITHIN the government, because the government is filled with crooks. That's why I am not falling for Rumsfeld being replaced with another criminal just like him.
We start by trying to wake people up to what's going on, that we're being duped, and hopefully if we wake enough people up to what's going on, something can be done. Exactly what, I don't know. All I know is that accepting change as offered by the same system that's screwing you over is not change at all.
LOL you really think people right now will be woken up? FAt chance...most people are worried about putting food on the table.
As far as I know he has never said the US will not stay the course in Iraq, just that the strategery will change.
Bush never mentioned anything about a strategy change until a couple weeks before the election. It's typical of the stubborness of this administration. They stonewalled a 911 investigation for a year then changed their minds a few weeks before Congressional elections in 2002. Same approach. Their cockiness doesn't allow them to compromise on anything unless they are forced to. .
Don't waste your time trying to get folks around here to discuss solutions. I did that in this thread: http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=196979 Got nowhere. I asked this sub-forum's moderator why in this thread: http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=199185 Read all the way through both & you'll see how that turned out. Then look for discussions of solutions anywhere else in the Politics forum. Only 727 until the presidential election. Time to get busy.... Peace, poor_old_dad
In fact it is. I didn't think that anybody would pick up on that so quickly. I was assuming most would construe that as a defense to Bush. You're good. I like the way you think.
Randi Rhodes had a pretty good idea.Divide Iraq into three autonomous areas--sunni in one, shiites in another and kurds in their own area, which they already have.Call them states or whatever term the people want to call them. But an investigation into the contractors rip-off of OUR tax dollars SHOULD happen.Along with the other investigations the repubs deserve.I hoped for years the repubs would control govt,so their ideas and methods would be clear. It happened and now we know how crooked they are and just what they really care about.MONEY ,POWER,and nothing---absolutely nothing else.I DON't LIKE THEM>
That's not Randi Rhodes' plan. That is the plan of the neocons, which they have had from the very beginning.
Damn Rat, where DO you get this b.s from? The whole idea of the neocons - from the beginning - was to keep Iraq intact, so that they could control the OIL via one puppet gov't. For Iraq to be divided, would require them to negotiate with 3 different gov'ts, and have equal control over them, which is next to impossible. BTW, I stated that Iraq needed to be divided this way YEARS ago. Many of my other predictions have come true too, including the fact that the Repugnantcans would fuck things up (as absolute power does absolutely), and then we would finally see how fucked up their whole philosophy is, and oust them forever (hopefully, until another fucked up, ignorant pro-war generation can be raised).
wow... first gates leads microsoft to head up a private charitable foundatation and now he's defense secretary... strange
