Grew up in Cheltenham, folks now live in yardley, I've been in Co for 6 yrs. I get back home about 5 times a year. Going back in Dec or my 30th, Keller at the TLA.
I have some friends in Cheltenham...Ivy Land actually. Yardley is right next to Morrisville, I lived in Morrisville for quite some time. I know the Yardley area well and have many friends there.
rockymtnhigh, i myself plan on seeing keller. gotta get tickets still. i saw him at the staircase in the scranton area on nov. 5. it was great. can't wait to see him again!!! maybe i'll see you there?
this thread died like a year ago but I thought I'd say HEYLOOO hahaha... Im from Tioga Co....... and if you know much about Tioga County or the news you know me.. hahaha not pointing out why.... but umm yea... Im going to school in indiana in the fall though so yea...
I live in Easton...right next to Bethlehem and Allentown, and about 45 minutes north of Philly, and literally right across the river from New Jersey(phillipsburgh). Do a good share of travelling through the eastern chunk of this state and most of Jersey...
I live in the country outside of Birdsboro which is halfway between Pottstown and Reading. I'd rather get 6 more cats than go to Philly, but I go up to Tioga County a good bit. I go every year to the rattlesnake hunt at Morris, my in-laws live outside of Mansfield and I stay at a hunting camp in Nauvoo. You Tioga natives-- did you ever swim at The Falls in Stony Fork Run? Some people call it the Cannonball. Wow! The second-best swimming hole I ever saw, but the water is so cold a man comes out looking like a woman-- no need for a jock there!
Big Falls!?!!??!?! Its AWESOME!! best place to ever go swimming but the turd little local high school brats have taken over so we've resorted to swimming at a place called woodhouse... but thats slowly being taken over as well... the last unknown swimming spot is Blueberry... lots of wonderful nights camping out up there... I live in Wellsboro which if you know Tioga county.. chances are you know where thats at!
May Aizelle-- hell yes, I know where Wellsboro is. We go there to get kegs for our 2 hunting camps in Morris and Nauvoo. My son's wife is from outside Mansfield and she called it the Falls-- didn't say Big Falls. We flatlanders call it the Cannonball. You're right-- what a beautiful spot! A bunch of us from age 16 to age 59 went up last year the Saturday of the snake hunt; for me, it was the first time I even heard of it and I've been coming to Morris to hunt for at least 35 years. I just splashed around upstream from the falls (I was afraid I couldn't get back up over the bank-- I'm 58) and took a lot of photos, but the younger guys dove in. There was about 30-35 people there, most of them in their teens and twenties, even women with babies!, which I thought was prretty stupid, given how steep the trail is from Stony Fork Road. Nobody said anything nasty to us old fogies in fact they smoked pot with my friends. About 4 of us old-timers just splashed around 30 yards upstream. Now the younger guys call that upstream section The Geriatric Pool. Keep posting-- a whole bunch of us are going again this year and we party-- not just we flatlanders, but natives we know. Pot, beer, moonshine, plenty to eat, from Friday afternoon to Sunday. You and your friends would be more than welcome. Maybe we could meet at the snake pit.
I was up there the weekend of the snake hunt chances are you saw me! Im always up there with friends.. yea girls bring their babies down most of them are really careful.. but yea I wouldnt bring my kid down in there.... there a big tree on the otherside I've climbed and jumped into the water ahhh how I miss it! I've had a hankering to go swimming too..... I should still be around come snake hunt sooo we'll see!! big falls is where I got my first taste of love to.... that place holds soo many memories for alot of the local people especially us young'ns LOL
When I was there last summer, the young nuts were actually climbing 20' up a tree and THEN diving in! They told me they used to have a rope tied to that cable that runs across the creek so you could swing out and jump in, but the Morris Fire Company removed it for safety reasons. I just wish there was a ladder so old farts like me could get out of the water up over the rocks. Then, I'd dive in!
awe haha yea... it is a bitch to climb up..... yea... to many people got hurt up there because they arent too bright...... yupppers I was one of those young nuts climbing up the tree LOL.....
You mentioned a swimming hole called "Woodhouse". There's a hunting camp called Woodhouse along Rt. 414 towards Nauvoo. But there isn't any creek near it. Where's this hole at? And where's Blueberry? I didn't get a chance to ask my daughter-in-law-- she'd probably know (maybe). BTW-- an old guy named Woodhouse was one of the first settlers in either Morris or Liberty Township. In fact, one of his descendants died at the age of 98 or so about 10 years ago. He owned like 5000 acres between 414 and Arnot. Now, it's a leased hunting area.
Blueberry is a hike into the woods and cant exactly remember how to tell you to get there (its one of those places where your driving along and its like oh yea this road.. haha) I know that theres a white cabin set back in the woords up there we always joke around about it being "blare witchy" LOL.... Woodhouse is close to the road.. up near Blackwell I beleive... its on a section of Pine Creek.. you could float down pine creek and find it.. which is how my brothers and I found it we were canoeing and saw a bunch of little shits swimming... lol.. they have a rope and stuff up there and I think there's a cave down under the rocks but Im not daring enough to go check it out ... I know theres a bike path right near it too.. I wish I could tell you more about it.. oh there's a brown/tan hunting cabin type place right across from where we park... Im trying to think of the name but I cant remember... but I hope that kinda gave you an idea? Your daughter probably knows about Woodhouse if she knows about Big falls and Im thinkin probably knows about Pirate Rock but thats in bloss and the water isnt as deep there...maybe 3-4foot at the deepest...
