Revolution begins in the mind.........and continues with the hand. What I mean is that revolution starts with consciousness. We need to teach ourselves, our children, or friends and family how to be more conscious in each decision we make. Thins like meditation, yoga, eco-friendly living, healthy diet, consciousness expanding blogs and ideas, then turn into newsletters , protests, movies and music , poetry, conversations, and eventually becomes the norm.
very true vegout, i agree. unfortunatly most of the money doesn't go to the cause, it goes into someone else's pocket. george harrison's concert for bengladesh-most of that money went to the concert promoters rather than the cause itself (im sure george didn't want it that way...it was probably beyond his control) but, on the other hand, every little bit helps. it's certainly better than nothing.
my favorite quote in the universe was said by ghandi: you must be the change you want to see in the world.
I couldnt agree more. I think if revolution starts small it will snowball, people will join in. But someone needs to start it. And if we are all sittin at home saying, cant wait to join that revolution once someone starts it, then its never gonna happen
i think the only way to start this is by living it. Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity. you hav to live love and trust life. that will lead to a revolution of the mind. not only in you, but in everyone that you interact with.
Me and some friends have a forum for world improvement, but really, it takes so much to wake people up. Everyday I hear people say that they want to do something against the evil in the world, but they dont know how/ can't find the time/ cant do it alone/are sure that nothing will change if only they do it.. We have to do it all togehter and convince people of the necessity, and of the fact that something CAN change in the world!
I really think it's all a matter of how far the American people will let the owners of America go before the people start to be aware and care enough to start taking action. We have already had our presidential elections rigged at least twice now and the more the owners get away with the more they will attempt. It's already pretty disgusting how far the owners have been allowed to go, and the majority still seem to think they have a democracy. It's an ugly truth...hard to face, but I think that the aware, thinking people in America need to accept the fact that, for things to change for the better, we have to find a way to break through the stupidity factor which has been cultivated and used by those in power for God only knows how long. Religion has a lot to do with it. The duped masses will cling to the idea that this is "one nation under God" and therefore can do no wrong until it's so obviously not true that any idiot could see it. It seems like we should have reached that point already, but apparently not. Stupidity is a hard nut to crack. It's a combination of ignorance and rigid mindset that is maintained by discouraging free thought and encouraging blind faith. I think the internet is our best resource right now since it cannot be bought or controlled. We have to realize though that however obvious things may seem to us, (thinking people) they can only be dimly comprehended at best by the duped masses. We have to work, not just as hard, but even harder at wising people up as the owners are working on keeping them stupid. .
I agree with you brother. The peaceful revolution starts from yourself live the revolution and it will grow and someday we have peace and harmony. God i'm feeling dramatic
I just love the fact that so many people your age are even thinking about this kind of thing, given how the schools seem to be places to learn how to be sheep rather than places to learn to think for yourself. Good for you being a 13 yr old revolutionary! :hurray:And all the rest of the young people working on a better world. Salutations to all of you!
Nobody even notices the protests. The media will not cover it. That issue needs to be addressed in order to be succesful.
Yeah, there has to be violence or destruction involved or no one hears about it, which is why there so often is violence or destruction involved---it's an attempt to get coverage, but of course that only re-enforces the notion of protesters being a bunch of wild eyed, crazy trouble makers. Of course the violence always starts after the police and/or national guard gets involved, but the masses assume it's all necessary force in response to violent protesters and whatever it is the protest is about gets eclipsed by the sensationalism about the violence. I support protests, but don't put much faith in them. Actions always seem more effective than reactions and protests are always reactions.
Oh how ive waited for somebody to say that. Nothing is going on now. In this day and age, a majority of the western world that we live in, just sits around and accepts it. There is NO unity in the activists/hippy's/whatevers, we are scrambled all over the place, looking for a group of people to be scrambled with. This forum (if otherwise) would not be an online one. If you think the indy twats who like 'The Arctic Monkeys' are going to start a revolution, you are very wrong. And there is a good reason im relating this to music. Becuase in my opinion, music is a very very powerful political tool. Stalin's russia demonstrates that very well, in the way he censored the sound of music, not just the words. Music is very emotional, and potentially has the power to control emotions. I think we need a revolution, but i think we would need someone for the young people like myself to look up to, preferably musicians and 'stars' (as that has worked in the past) and we would need large numbers, and a way of ensuring people understand what we are saying, and act on it. I have these people i look up to, but they all died 20 years ago. What use is that? In essence, we'd need an entire alternative sub-culture, to really shine, and become very mainstream in order to garner the willpower and means of which are needed to create a revolution.
haha, agreed. We alone shall be the harbingers of peace on earth. Free love. Rock'n'roll. And.... well... Peanut flavoured milkshake? Im not too sure about the last one, but i think it could do very well.
Keep in mind too that a revolution doesn't have to happen over night. One that does happen over night probably wouldn't be a very good one. Overturning the current power structure is only half the battle. We also have to make the difficult transition from the plutocracy (government by the wealthy) to a social system that is truly by the people for the people. That might be a process that takes decades. Just do what you can to keep the ball rolling. That's the important thing. If everyone just sits around waiting for everyone else, nothing will happen.
I think if anything is to start, it would start up North. Don't ask me why, but I just think it would start in cold weather states this time around. I have a deeper reason to why I believe that, but its probably a bit silly :-\
