Return of the Draft? Bill being discussed in Congress

This is why it will probably always be defeated. We're safe from overt conscripted service as long as it remains in the corporate/government interest that we remain quietly nestled in our illusions of comfort and security.

 

This is a brilliant statement and in my opinion absolutely true ! The draft never really ended . As long as poor young people need food , clothing and shelter . Some of them have no choice . Either the military or poverty . It's ranks will always be full as long as their is poverty . The lesson they learned in the Vietnam era is people like the illusion of choice . In some of these economically depressed areas , with little living wage job opportunities the services are the only option for a better life . This has been the case since the Roman empire .

You can rest assured of one thing , this war machine will be fed , either by voluntary or involuntary means .

rich , old men start wars that young , poor men will fight and die for .
