Who's this 'we' you are talking about. Are you claiming to be a part of an anti-american mobile espionage cell?

I love the way you talk about all that shit in the second quote like hundreds of men far more brilliant and rich than you haven't been trying for 10 years.

I didn't turn off anything. I'm just not scared of anybody or anything, that's all. I wrote Paladin Press's best sellling book, HOW TO MAKE A SILENCER FOR A .22, half a million copies sold, at $10 each, since 1994, from Federal prison. :)

You know! Americans aren't very good at Social Welfare! You just want to charge everyone through the nose! You don't really believe that people deserve a break! That's why progressive democracies don't trust you! You institutionally kill more people than China! You've got about a third of your populace in jail! You condone killing people as an answer to your growing problems! Wake up and change!

This is why I've quit the democratic party, and I've lost all respect for our government at this point.

I dunno if I'm more disgusted with the republican'ts for, well, representing the interests of the wealthy (which they've never made any pretenses about), or the dems for posing as progressives, it seems the dems have betrayed us worse.

As for the discussion of why people join the military, I did so I could go to college, but it was a different world back then. However, it's no surprise people are still joining now that there are no other options to get ahead.

It seems to me a character like sweat could use his talents productively by strapping on some explosives and taking out a few wall street banksters or politicians...

...not that I'm advocating violence or anything, I'm just really pissed off right now.

My counterpoint to this itself has a valid counterpoint so bear with me...

First, you seem to be basing what you say on the premise that our government is swayed by the will of the people- it isn't... in fact, both parties consistently rule against the will of the people... essentially by trying to sell their agenda as something that is in our interest. Meanwhile a culture and mis-educational mechanism turns out people with short attention spans and an inability to comprehend what is really going on in the government.

But we allow this to happen so we are not faultless... we've just stood aside and permitted the perverse puppet show of legislative follies take place... we seem unable to question them.... so while attributing the misdeeds of our criminal government to us is not entirely true in that members of our government only seem to give a damn about our opinions when they need our vote to get (re)elected- BUT it is valid to pin some onto us collectively as we seem unwilling to effectively react to being legislatively ignored to the point that an historically low approval rating doesn't sway them from enacting pork-filled legislation that demonstrates their refusal to either operate more transparently or to live within their means.... and that goes for BOTH parties- not just republicans. I read and heard a bit about the republicans "holding unemployment hostage" for the sake of lower taxes for the very rich and it was completely true- but the democrats aren't above holding them hostage for their purposes either.

So- the prez is to sign a piece of legislation that includes two more years of no tax increase (presumably) and extension of unemployment so we are supposed to be grateful for them allowing a few crumbs to permit some to barely subsist after losing gainful employment because of an economic calamity that the very same government had a hand in creating.

On the world stage we're all getting screwed; much of the rest of the world views us as a laughingstock... an urbanlife preserve of caged serfs conditioned to accept economic subjugation as freedom and not to question hopelessly corrupt buffoons whose names on election ballots crowd out all hope of meaningful change. Change the puppets; distract with partisan bickering, pledge transparency while perpetuating opacity.... create an economic collapse and "react" with relief legislation bestowing trillions of unbacked currency to the very sector that made the mess with a bill so massive that one is left with the sense that it was crafted before the collapse- that is if one stops to THINK... but nary a peep from the sheep who are so conditioned to accept the premise of what the "syndicate" is doing that they seem no longer capable to they are being thoroughly fucked by the entire government and NOT just the republicans.

So while I have an issue with the finger pointing at me, I cannot muster an effective counterpoint to convince that I am not at least partially responsible.

The escape is available in the form of education and speaking out. If people sit placidly by and do nothing their government will continue raping their wallets in one way or another.

A big first step is finding ways around the infrastructure that the establishment is counting on us being dependent on.

I look at this about the same as the ignore function here at HF... we shouldn't need to have to shut out differing views. We can choose to ignore them... that includes the fucked up advertising on tv.

There are definitely times that it helps to be able to do that though, (shut it off or ignore things, or even get offered a free vacation ;) ) in that it allows us to reset so to speak...

But in general terms, don't blame the tv... blame instead, those who choose to accept what the magic voices inside say as gospel....

Having said that, it may be possible that the whole freakin world needs a 'reset'... lol

Imagine what would happen if people did two things... Stopped using credit cards and other forms of daily credit, and planted a few vegetables in their windowsills...

Agreed... TV is wrought with political and corporate brainwashing vices. It's true; influence can have astonishing effects. (Money see, monkey do.)

Consider switching to a pay-as-you-go mobile phone.
Are "SMART PHONES" really necessary as web access is increasingly easy to come by these days?

Also look into participating in COOPs. This benefits and strengthens the local community while depriving larger powerful corporations.

Please correct me if I'm misinformed, but I believe these CHOICES circumvent taxation of the individual altogether.

    ____________
    On a side note:

Is it still true that the U.S. is among only 2 countries in the world where it's legal to advertise prescription drugs?

Pill pushing medical professionals, particularly of mind numbing anti-depressants, have become extremely prominent and accepted on American landscape over the last couple decades.

I wonder at this point, if measurable amounts can be found in water supplies.

Combined with fear mongering on a national level, do the collective effects parallel that of government enabled factory farming?

    Baa... Moo... Cluck... Oink... D'oh!
