If a materialist thinks that all the universe originated from a single source, like a Big Bang Singularity for instance, then that would be Oneness

That would also go right in line with the notions of an Almighty Creator Source from which everything stems.

An Almighty Creator would presume some sentient entity creating the Universe, so no.

Materialism also usually implies that everything is essentially separate from everything else. The fear of death stems from this sense and belief of Separation. If you're dwelling in pure Oneness, there's no sense of death.

Not necessarily. It may take the form as an entity as a symbol but still the principle of an Almighty Creator implies a single source from which everything stems.

Well if it's both Oneness and Separate, it's got the basis covered pretty well :D

Pretty much all depictions using the term "Creator" suggests intentionality, it's really grasping at straws to interpret any other way.

Wouldn't the conception of a child suggest intentionality from a singular source? Why would these principles diminish when it comes to Cosmic births?

Materialism ISN'T implying Oneness, though. Even with the Big Bang, everything is seen as essentially separate from everything else, because everything is physical. Oneness implies a Spirit that is nonlocal and universal that permeates the "stuff" of the Universe.

Oneness would also make room for both Oneness and Separation. All would be included. Materialism wouldn't include a singular universal Consciousnes that we all share.

Turn on Maury Povich or any show of the like and it's clear that not even all children are intentional :) but regardless life has a unique place among the Cosmos, which doesn't necessarily apply to other parts of the Cosmos.

You don't really have proof that life doesn't permeate the universe, and this view of yours is only showing more how Materialism implies Separation.

Do you feel that the Universe is interconnected or that we are here by accident? By believing only in physical reality, you're leaving out the notion of a Universal Intelligence which permeates the creation of the Cosmos. You demonstrated that by thinking that life on Earth is unique to the Cosmos.

Your views are showing that you are absolutely clueless in regards to certain Philosophical Paradigms.

I maintain that a materialist can view the universe as Oneness with a Big Bang Singularity, it's certainly less of a stretch than some of the notions you have espoused.

I'm gonna go with a safe response and say I need to know your definition of 'interconnected' before I answer that. I do not believe in Intelligent Creator of the Universe. I don't know if life is necessarily unique to Earth, that is not my assertion, life has a different process of creation than formation of planets and stars.

Planets and stars ARE life (once again you're implying Separation between "life" and planets and stars). And when talking about the conception of a child, i meant that despite whether the pregnancy was accidental or not, that the fertilization process is a process of "will" of the sperm into the egg.

How is life on Earth, which is a planet, essentially different than the birth of stars and planets? Aren't planets and stars born, live, and then eventually die?

How can a Materialist, who believes that the Universe is only physical, believe in the notion that all of physical reality stems from a source of absolute Nothingness? Isn't this the premise of the Big Bang?

The Big Bang goes with Oneness well. Materialism does not.

If everything is ONLY physical, then Oneness can't be possible. If everything stems from a singular source, then everything must return to that same original source. Materialism would have you believe that there is no returning to any source when you die, since physical reality is seen to be the only thing that's real. Thus, Separation is essentially implied. When you die, it's not your ego that passes, it's YOU who passes, since YOU are seen to be made up of only your physical form. This is what is implied from Materialism.

Matter being the fundamental form of the universe is in direct opposition to Essentialism which implies that all objects have an inner, unseen nature to it.

Buddha Mind is implying a complete cessation of identification with one's Ego. To "die before you die" as they say. Materialism is in contrast to the notion of "dying before you die" because that notion is a Spiritual notion and implies a Source that one will return to after an incarnation.

There is no hard evidence that planets and Stars are life. In fact, many of the planets have conditions which are inhospitable to life as we know it.

People use terms like stars are "born" and stars "die" but those are anthropomorphic terms just to relate the phenomena. It's like saying a light bulb has a lifespan of 3 years, not meant to be taken literally.
