Stated in another way...

I feel he is subjugating his ego to keep you happy.

I think that when push comes to shove, if you go through with this with another person it will hurt him deeply.

You asked for opinions.

Thanks for replying. You're right, I have no problem with people giving their opinions...that's why I asked for them. I can appreciate brutal honesty. It's just that sometimes the truth hurts..so sorry if i seemed defensive. I just wanted to defend Shawn, 'cause it seemed like the right thing to do.

 

The longer I think about it the more I think that he's allowed you the ability hoping you'll make the decision not to. The fact that he's willing to even attempt to deal with this is because he thinks at worst it may happen a couple of times and you'll remember that it's not all that great because it's all about the same after a while. in reality, the poor guy is probably going halfway nuts. Just the fact that he'd do that for you should be a huge indication that you really shouldn't do that him.

Truly ask yourself, "What will this change? What do I stand to gain?", and I believe you'll find yourself stumped. Ask yourself, "What do I stand to lose?", and . . .

 

You are a fine person.

You need to consider all possibilities and the consequences of them.

I have no doubt if you follow your heart, you will find all the answers you need.

 

You give good advice... this has been the most helpful post I've seen yet. I am going to ask myself those questions and really try to understand the answers. :hug:

EXACTLY the same thing with me before my last serious relationship.. and after it ended.. it just went back to the way things were before.. I had many boyfriends or semi-boyfriends, all open relationships.. except 1, but that didn't work out at all.. like it was an exclusive relationship where feelings were involved.. but it didn't work out! and after that.. I was done with relationships.. except 1 boyfriend in Spain but.. it wasn't serious AT ALL..

 

Well thank you. I should start keeping logs and reading them back to myself because I sure do a lot of stupid shit.
