Oop's! ,what's this?...10,000 innocent people die in ONE day thank's to American Cruise missiles?...
Which day was that? Must have been sleeping.

    Mui
love all these 1-10 post newbs who post in the politics forums about being conservative and pro-REAGAN and other such nonsense
With the same thinking it could be said:
Love all the 18yr and younger newbs who post in politics.
They have an opinion of politics that might be a little different than yours. Just because they haven’t posted a lot means what? You have almost 200, means posting in "Random Thoughts" and "Love and Sex" make you an authority in the Politics forum?

I had over 700 in the old format, that means nothing either. As I have less than 20 here.

Anyway, I think Reagan did rather well from my point of view. He gave the Military a huge pay raise and got funds for updated ships, airplanes and hardware that have been used ever since.

This is all just a matter of opinion. To me, I think all that military is just an example of wasteing american money. Someone who likes having a huge military presence will think that is a good thing.

I think everyone has a right to their own opinion, and no one should tell others what they need to think. (not saying that this is what you are doing, johnny - i recognize that you are not)

Nice posting GrievousAngel! And Mui, the shred of respect I had for you is lost.

Don’t equate the death of President Ronald Reagan with that of some scum sucking terrorist, I don’t have the slightest bit of respect for their kind.

You’re tellin ME, that President Reagan didn’t earn respect? He has the respect of MILLIONS of Americans (bet that hurt) that he has earned through his policy actions. America may be cocky, but they’ve EARNED the right to be.

Boy Bush really does have the left fired up! There's been some talk about bi-partisanship; bi-partisanship is what we need right now, the left is fired up, but that's not what we need for our actions in Iraq to succeed, which they must.

    RIP GIPPER

My hat is off to you, a bow.....

Found this a little while ago.....pretty cool....

President George W. Bush: "He always told us that for America the best is yet to come. ... We comfort ourselves by telling ourselves that the same is true for him. ... We know a shining city is waiting for him."

Former President George H.W. Bush: "The most I learned from him was his adherence to principle and to fight for them. ... He used the term 'evil empire' and all his critics were ringing their hands, saying he doesn't know how to conduct foreign affairs ... sure enough peace happened on his watch."

Former President Gerald Ford: "Betty and I are deeply saddened by the passing of our longtime friend, President Reagan. Ronald Reagan was an excellent leader of our nation during challenging times at home and abroad. We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to Nancy and his family."

Former President Bill Clinton: "Hillary and I will always remember President Ronald Reagan for the way he personified the indomitable optimism of the American people, and for keeping America at the forefront of the fight for freedom for people everywhere. It is fitting that a piece of the Berlin Wall adorns the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington."

Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass.: "Ronald Reagan's love of country was infectious. Even when he was breaking Democrats' hearts, he did so with a smile and in the spirit of honest and open debate."

Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert: "How ironic that he died on the eve of the sixtieth anniversary of the D-Day invasion? He shared the vision of those brave men who risked and sometimes lost their lives, so that others could live in freedom. That vision lives today."

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi: "All Americans are grateful for Ronald Reagan's great leadership and service to our country and admired his special grace, optimism, and humor. He served our country with dignity and he died with dignity."

Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani: "I've studied him more than any other man in modern politics. ... He changed the direction of the world on the strength of his convictions."

Calif. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger: "It is easy to see how profoundly President Reagan changed the world. He made it safer, more free and gave hope and opportunity to millions.

Newt Gingrich: "All free people stand on Reagan's shoulders. His principled policies proved that free markets create wealth, that the rule of law sustains freedom, and that all people everywhere deserve the right to dream, to pursue their dreams, and to govern themselves."

Sen. John McCain: "In the more than thirty years that have passed since I first met [Ronald Reagan], I have never lived a day that I wasn't grateful for the privilege of the Reagans' friendship, and the strength of his faith in America that inspired my own, and so many others."

Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle: "America has lost an icon. Ronald Reagan's leadership will inspire Americans for generations to come. His patriotism and devotion to our country will never be forgotten."

Secretary of State Colin Powell: "President Reagan fueled the spirit of America. His smile, his optimism, his total belief in the ultimate triumph of democracy and freedom, and his willingness to act on that belief, helped end the Cold War and usher in a new and brighter phase of history."

Republican National Committee chairman Ed Gillespie: "Ronald Reagan was a president of great historic impact who led the United States with strength and conviction, and the positive impact of his policies is still felt today here and around the world. More than two decades after he was first elected president, the Republican Party still bears his imprint. Because Ronald Reagan lived, people across the globe live in greater freedom and prosperity."

You know what, smartass....just because you say it it MUST be true

We dont have to like anyone just because others do. We are not mindless drones, and have a right to our own opinion.

Razm, I will mourn greatly over the loss of the shred of respect you once held for me. I hope that when I die, you might smite me as I have smited this fascist. Reagan is dead now, and I'm sure he can't hear my insults.. Nor can he feel the gentle stream of piss that runs above his grave. But it sickens me to turn on my television, to be subjected to all this fascist-loving nonsensical garbage spouted off by the american media about this man. He is a monster, a blasphemous waste of cells. Like most presidents america has had... he has never had any respect for me, so I have none to lose from him... REAGANOMICS DOESNT WORK.

You little bastard, why don't you go ahead and tell me why President Reagan was a fascist.....you'll need to be specific. Get the fuck out of my country.

Reaganomics, it doesn't take long to learn that it works and works well. One need look no farther than the Soviet Union, presidential tradition, inflation & tax relief under his presidency (and of course much much more) to understand that.

2 words for anybody weeping over the death of Ronnie Raygun:

    "James Rector"

If that name doesn't ring a bell, how about:

    "People's Park"

Still nothing? Then do some reading here:

    http://www.beauty-reality.com/peoplespark.html

, or watch the film "Berkeley in the '60s".

As a "hippie" site, we should NEVER forget what RR did when he was governor of CA. He was a heartless, corporate fuckwad long before he ever became president. Certainly no friend of hippies. Remember this quote?

    Good Riddance....

President Bush's Remarks Upon the Death of President Ronald Reagan

    Ambassador's Residence
    Paris, France

THE PRESIDENT: This is a sad hour in the life of America. A great American life has come to an end. I have just spoken to Nancy Reagan. On behalf of our whole nation, Laura and I offered her and the Reagan family our prayers and our condolences.

Ronald Reagan won America's respect with his greatness, and won its love with his goodness. He had the confidence that comes with conviction, the strength that comes with character, the grace that comes with humility, and the humor that comes with wisdom. He leaves behind a nation he restored and a world he helped save.

During the years of President Reagan, America laid to rest an era of division and self-doubt. And because of his leadership, the world laid to rest an era of fear and tyranny. Now, in laying our leader to rest, we say thank you. He always told us that for America, the best was yet to come. We comfort ourselves in the knowledge that this is true for him, too. His work is done, and now a shining city awaits him. May God bless Ronald Reagan.

I doubt he could even READ it....

Some of the words DO have more than 2 syllables, after all.

reagan's presidency was in that dreamy time of my childhood where you can never really be sure of the accuracy of your memories. i was four when he was elected, 8 when re-elected, and completely uninterested in any form of politics until a couple years ago. all i remember of reagan was enthusiasm and being proud of my home and my people. when you're proud of your home and your family, you take care of them. then i entered that embittered era of teenage/early 20's, and i believed in nothing, but somehow i knew more than anyone and my ideals were unique and better than anyone else's, and no one else would ever understand. so, still stayed out of politics because all that shit was too painful. now, i'm a more moderate person. i see both good and bad in reagan's actions, and i'll continue to see both in every other candidate. except clinton, he's the devil. ;)
