Well to be honest most of my clothes are either free, or as a gift or something like that. I don't really care about brand name clothes...I think the whole label thins is completely stupid.
I stay away from all clothing with visible logos, except for certain travel items which can't really be helped (sturdy trekking clothes and such). When shopping for clothes I generally search for clothes that a) fit well, and b) are well made. I could care less about name brands and try to avoid them as a rule. For me it is tied to my not shopping at Wal-mart, not eating at McDonald's and pretty much trying to avoid all chains (though this is becoming increasingly difficult. For me it is as much a matter of aesthetics as it is not pandering to large corporations.
There are some brands I just like for quality and look (Levi's and Converse, for example). I don't really make a big deal of getting rid of tags (unless they are boy jeans, as I would rather people not know my hip span, thank you very much), because the brand is pretty obvious anyway. I also pay attention to brand when shopping secondhand (which is often) because better brands can generally hold up better through two+ owners. But, I do refuse to blatantly advertise for these company's so I can have status, or be in fashion. It's totally tacky. However, if there is a reason to promote the company, I'd think about it. Like I have a shirt that I got from the Portland Saturday Market. It has the brand name on it, but I bought it from the guy who made it. He was a cool guy, and I'm happy to support his efforts. Maybe, also, if a company was commited to being organic, fair trade, fair wages, etc, I would try to promote them. I know that this is really confused, but it works for me morally and financially!
well i just went shopping in the states and spent about $150 on so much no name stuff, that i probably got the same amount of clothes as my sister did who had to buy everything from abercrombie, ae, etc and she musta spent a good $500.
I have no problem wearing brand names. There's nothing wrong with the companies putting their logos on their products. Only brand names I have anyways are: -Nike spring jacket -Adidas jogging pants -Reebok hoodie All of which I found any ways. And if you don't like advertising for companies. I hope you take the companies logo off of your car. After all, your just a driving billboard.
i usually won't buy brand names, certainly not walmart, but if it's a gift i won't send it back or something like that.
If a company is going to put "their" logo/name they better PAY ME to wear it.And I mean big money.Lebron James the basketball player got 100MILLION dollars from NIKE.Why should I even think of wearing Nike shoes that cost about 2 dollars to make, and are manufactured in a third world country, just because some wanna be but never will be Michael Jordan has his name on it.
Didn't vote because I do most, if not all my shopping at thrift stores... if I find it and like it I'll wear it, regardless of brand names. I, however, tend to steer away from anything with a large, obviously showy logo. Rather give my money to a non-profit or local shop than a corporate retail giant and the slave-trade manufacturers. I'm not paying for the sweatshop production.
I wear some names. Designer clothes fit better and some are extremely good, durable quality. Even non-clothing; I have a Cynthia Rowley umbrella and it is the most durable, well-made umbrella I have ever owned. I have not seen anyone with the umbrella I have and that's great to me. Designer clothes are unique. No-name brands are worn by most people and I'd rather not wear what most people are wearing. I shop at thrift stores, and really buy whatever looks good--designer clothes or not--but I notice the designer ones fit and look better on me. My favorite is Dolce & Gabbana but I haven't seen any at resale shops and that line is WAY TOO expensive to buy at a regular store.
Well I'm not going to wear Hollister or Abercrombie or what not, just because it's a fad. I prefer just tie-dying shirts
i like to make my own things like handbags and skirts and stuff, but there are a few neccesities that you just have to buy. i like lots of things, but i won't pay over $20 for a shirt or over $50 for a pair of pants. hwat started turning me off about that stuff is because when i was little, my mo mwould always make sure i was perfedt and when i got away fro mher, i never wanted to see that rich people stuff agian. i think if you are going to wear a brand ,you might as well just get it tattoed on your forehead or something. its just another label.
Almost all of my clothes come from the trash. I find lots of trendy crap which I either sell or leave there where it belongs. Though I do have a few name brand things which I kept because they were useful to me. I can't just run around naked.... ---------------- Now playing: Tsutchie - The Updater
i do not mind brand names [though i do not care for clothes such as t-shirts with big ads on them] i buy all my clothes at the thrift shop so all my brand name clothing money goes to charity [and to but coffee and donuts for the old ladies who volunteer there]
I want to clarify my original post.I have no problem with 'brand names. However if a public person, celebrity endorses or has their name on a product its a big turn off.I would actually be ashamed of wearing lets say an Air Jordan shoe,or similair.
i never where shirts with just the brand name on the front, but if it's a brand and it has an epic design/look and is affordable i'm not going to get my panties in a bunch about wearing it. that is, as long as i know they don't use child labour or something. second hand brand name clothing is alright. I'm not brand oriented when it comes to clothing, but Levi's jeans fit me the best and I have a lot of fancy name brand shirts because they'll last forever.
I wear pretty much generic everything, because as a big/tall guy, all the supposedly 'great' brands don't come in my size. I wear basically 3 brands, and I wear them to death. Fruit of the loom (teeshirts) Levis (for jeans) earthshoes (for shoes/sandals) most everything else is either once-off items, like if I need a sweater (if I have sweats, those are fruit of the loom as well) or a coat or something, I'll gladly spend some extra money for something quality, like right now, my current savings is for a decent B-1 Shearling bomber jacket for when I go north. Once in a lifetime buy, if you care for it well. That kinda thing. As for the jeans and shirts....those get worn to utter death. Jeans wound up as slouchers with patches, then shorts, then cut down for jean patches. Teeshirts get worn til they're no longer decent, then turned into rags, and used til they fall apart. my one weakness is wool socks. good 100% wool. I don't have as many as I need, but again, they get worn for years. (looks at a pair I got for christmas about 4 years ago, still being used)
I'm 90% covered by hand-me-downs(I have two older brothers and they're both as tall or taller than me) or thrift store purchases. I don't care what they have on them(brand name or no). And that remaining ten percent is mostly socks.
