Could be if I didn't know better! But the only thing he likes more than bringing thrown sticks back is having a pulling contest :-D Which can take forever! He's covered in his own drool at the end too.... but it's his fav game. So he always at some time offers the stick but when you grab it he won't let go. You can see it in his eyes when he's thinking about trying that.
I finally saw a heron at the lake! Unfortunately it was at 6 in the morning so I quickly grabbed my camera and snapped a few shots through the (dirty) window. By the time I got to the porch, he was gone. So they're not in good focus, especially since I had it at full zoom and the pics are enlarged. Now I just have to see a moose! I believe it's a Great Blue Heron.
I saw a lone Snow Goose at the lake today. They don't frequent the park and aren't usually alone like that. I realized that it was injured when some children approached it and it didn't fly away so I called the local emergency animal control. They'll probably take it to a bird sanctuary we have a couple of towns over. It looks like that right wing is damaged.
A few pictures at the lake over the last few weeks. This is our resident Duckie with her new brood on May 26th. This was today. 3-1/2 weeks later, look how big the ducklings are already. Only two there, the rest must be on their own already. A goose family as well. Dad had the lead the whole time until he heard something. He made a beeline to the back of the line, stretching up his neck. I couldn't see anything suspicious, but he sure thought there was. He was very protective. Unlike Dickie, who was more concerned with feeding his face than helping his mate with the ducklings. A grackle giving me the evil eye. Must have thought I was going to snatch away his nesting material he so diligently gathered. Someone made an inuksuk! There was a family at the beach area. They must have been passing through. It's kind of a thing to do here in your travels.
No, it is not a good look on MOST people. I would say you're an exception to that. See, there I go again kissing a girl's ass because she's pretty.
A heron showed up at the lake yesterday while I was there! They're usually scarce and if they show up at all it's early morning. This was in the evening. I'm lucky to have seen one twice this season. So I got some closer shots this time. Just wish the sun wasn't against me, it darkened him out. I managed some video too. He was drinking and talking and primping and preening, and finally flew off at the end. Just as he landed Looking over at me From hidden neck to stretched way out
A few other critters at the park. The grackles always look so mean. Gull landed after a session of soaring and dipping. Furry friend munching a treat. Doing a quick morph. Maybe into Orison!
