    Hello,

I have just joined today but have been reading the forums for some time, one thing I learned was that wax is baaaddd news.

I had short hair two years ago, I have let it grow and never combed it for natural dreads... I got two "nice dreads" and the rest were just knots that were sucking in more and more hair so I didn't want my head to end up with 6 fat flat dreads... so I googled and found dreadheadhq. I bought the kit, six hours later and a friend I had things that looked like dreads... well, most only stayed dreaded by the rubber bands and the rest untangled itself.

I have used wax a couple of times and made mom do my hair.... she twisted and went up and down fast with her fingers... (sounds wrong).

Anyway, I have loops all over the place that I'm hoping will get smaller as time dreads them even further. It's been a little over a month and I think they're doing their thing since putting them all in a ponytail is impossible now.

My problem now is that hair by the scalp somehow get tangled in two dreads and I get 2 into 1 in many places... I don't want to cut them apart and using force isn't working too well.

Now I'm not using wax or anything, just soap and see what happens.

    www.myspace.com/maciekpl87 for some pics. =)

I've got a lot of reading to do... =D

hi, iv had my dreads for about four months, got them backcombed at a salon but wouldn't recommend it.
Anyway iv got one in the middle at the front that lays back fine with a head band on but without, flops back n forth sticking out in front like a knatty horn!! this is basicly a pain in the arse and i was wondering if anyones got any ideas. or have i just got to deal with it till they get longer? (they're about 7-8")
    cheers

Hi, i got my dreads 4months ago, had them backcombed in at a salon, wouldn't recomend it though. Anyway my problem is that I'v got a dread at the front in the middle that either flops backward or forewards and I'm looking for a way to persuade it to grow to one side or something. Or have I just gotta wait till he's longer?
    cheers

Is a bar of Zest soap suitable for washing dreads with?
It leaves no smell on my skin so I assume it is residue free.

    correction
it doesnt leave a scent that you notice, however, it does leave a scent
    it also leaves residue
disolve the bar in water overnight in a glass
rince the glass ,,,see the residue?
or, take a bath and see the soap scum?

if you got none of the ingredients growing near ya u probly dont wanna use it

is it safe..maybe..maybe not..but its certainly not the best

if your dreads are mature u can pretty muchg wash with anything that wont ruin em (as long as its not such a heavy residue as wax) but thet'll definately preffer no residue

and new dreads, will definately dread better and faster when kept free of crap

Hello all, new to forums here and so glad I found you all. Lots of helpful info here. Started my dreads about a month ago. Sectioned, backcomed, rubberbanded, waxed. Only waxed the one time. Most of the little dreds are nice and notty, and feel pretty tight. I have taken a few rubberbands out of the ones that feel really locked up except for the tips. Have two questions if anyone can help: A. Should I remove all of the elastics?, and B. should I cut the unknotted tips off? I would appreciate any advice, thank you

hey everyone. I've only just 20 mins ago found this thread after ordering DreadHeadHQ shampoo 25 mins ago. Paying 10$ for the shampoo and 38$ for shipping sux when people say that dreadheadhq is crap, so what I'd like to know is if the shampoo is really crap and I shouldn't use it.
    Thanks

I've used the shampoo and it definately get's your hair as clean as it could be. But I always caught the scent of chemicals for some reason. Could be just me, but I haven't used it since.

this is probably answered many times in this thread, but how often do you all suggest i should rinse my hair in the beginning stages? during the school week i take a shower in the morning and one after track because i'm really sweaty. would it be best for me to take it easy on the weekends and only rinse it if completely neccesary, or does it not matter?

the ends of my dreads aren't dreading up, which i don't mind at all really (have to keep my friend away from me with felting needles though, she really wants them rounded and neat  ) but my sister keeps saying i should cut them off.

two questions, firstly will they undread further up if i cut off the ends of the undreaded bits?
and second, dya think it'll make my hair grow quicker? and is it worth it?

    cheers :D

Question number 2424829 from me. :p I just bought a bottle of J/A/S/O/N tea tree shampoo. A) Can I use this during the dreading process? B) Should I dilute it before using it?

I have a quick question to help ease my troubled mind:
I have very thin hair, and got dreads about 2 months ago. They were done using the backcomb method and I was told to continue with this method until they form tightly since they keep wanting to come out. I love my dreads but I am concerned that I am going to have to backcomb forever. I know I should be patient, and I am really, but I am just wonderign does anyone have thin hair and dreads and did they actual work out? No matter the answer the dreads are staying in, I just am looking to calm the paranoia a bit, ya know. Thanks in advance.

In my opinion, it is very important that you only backcomb once. My first set of dreads had a couple not so knotty dreads, now I think it's cause I kept trying to backcomb those few. I should have left em be.
