If your fingers are in your hair and if use them like "comb", it well unknot your hair early on (first to 3rd mouth)... But if you just itch or just mess your hair around then it well do less damage then pulling your fingers thorugh your hair...

i looked all through this.. maybe i missed it but heres my question anyways.

i haven't brushed my hair.. i stopped backcombing it because the "dread" just falls back out. however! it seems my hair is ALL knoting together.. i separate them the best i can and palm roll all i can, but by the end of the day or when i wake up.. it's all stuck, tangled together again.. what am i doing wrong? what should i be doing different?

just paste me a link if this has already been brought up

That's completely normal, actually. My hair was a big mess when I first started...each hair is trying to find its way into a dread...you have two choices...let them go they way they want (it might look like things are a mess back there, but, in reality, they will come together and fall out...then find their real places) or keep ripping them apart.

It's normal, trust me :) Happy dreading!

yea i noticed that once u just leave your hair alone it dreads up alot better then when u backcomb them all the time.

Dont worry... Wash your hair, and push thourgh and palm roll ever so often. Like if your sitting down doing nothing, start palm rolling. But dont do this around the dinner table because your get yelled at for being rude...

iono i jsut find it really fun i feel if i do this fast enough ill just take off..

yeah i get in trouble at school cause the teacher is giving a lecture and you can hear my hands rubbing together when im rolling my dreads..
its best to do when you're waiting for the bus i figured.

Yea that use to happen to me, and it still happens to a degree. I found out that you need to separate your dreads and its one of those annoying one strains of hair what holding the together. Which then you dont know which dred it comes from or going to so you just have to hang the basterd out and hope you didnt pull it out of your root...

Yea the same thing happen to me, but not with the teacher but with my friend who sat beside me in math class. He said it sounded gross and i should stop, so I did. But when ever I was bored i would rub my hair together just to annoy him and to hear what he would say :p...

ok, week 5-ish now, and my baby dreads aren't calming down, they're still poofing out. I'm guessing this is totally normal, but does anyone know about how long this will last and if I can do anything about it?

    Thanks a million.

p.s. Sorry if this question has been posted before, I'm on an awful computer that loads things so slow I'd be here all day if i checked.

probably a couple of month. washing helps them calm down and knott up quicker so try washing a bit more. they will fall to pieces and the knotts will fall out a bit but bare with them and they will lock themselves right back up again with a lil time and patiance

hey my dreads are about a year old, but about halfway though the process i decided i wanted them thicker so i started innerlocking every 2 or 3 of the, at the roots they have become one dread, but the tips are still loose or in a braid, i put rubberbands on the ends to stop them from comming undone, but what can i do to make them dread faster, i thought about waxing them up again. i would prefer to not go back to wax. any suggestions?

    natureslaze-

Do you want the locks that have already locked up to lock up together? If they locked properly, you might not be able to get them to lock together. Just put a bead or something cool around the end of them if you want to keep them together. I wouldn't recommend wax for this use, unless you just want to glue your hair together. You know, in which case, use Elmer's Glue. =P

    Namaste!

Just put them in? :p i find it a lot easier with dreads which tips aren't closed. In that way you can make them sit pretty tight and then they wont fall off.
