When I was 16 I got into a scrap with another guy, and he kicked me in the nuts. Ordinarily fights break up when one guy gets on top of the other and feeds him a couple shots. Yes, you're right. But what about those who are not insane? Any weapon (not just Rapex) can be used either for revenge or defense. This is because all weapons are just extensions of the real weapon, the FIRST weapon, in fact: the human mind. If the mind is insane and hellbent on getting even, then it is still dangerous even if there are no external weapons within its reach. If the mind is sane and responsible, then any weapon it uses, it will use in a sane and responsible manner.

I have mixed thoughts and feelings.

For a woman who for whatever reason is threatened with rape, and plans not to have sex with anyone else, it could be a good idea, especially to reduce the risk of becoming pregnant or contracting an STD from the rapist...

However, just because it will prevent that, doesn't mean that this "tool" would make the woman feel any better about the rape... it would still be a traumatizing experience none the less. Sexual assaults, without vaginal rape are just as traumatizing as vaginal rape is, and this isn't going to make a woman feel any better about it, I'm afraid...

I do find it a bit medieval myself... reminds me a lot of a chastity belt idea. *shivers*

And, I also agree... I think many rape cases are those that are in close ties with the woman... yes the whole stranger rape scenario happens often as well, but...I've known all too many girls, myself included, who were rather raped by an abusive boyfriend/husband. It wasn't something I could predict, where I would have had the oppurtunity to utilize a device like this. And unfortunately, many women in those types of abusive relationships, are too oblivious or have such shattered confidence from the abuse that they wouldn't even think of utilizing one.

Overall, I don't think this device is particularly a good idea, except maybe in extreme conditions.... Even then, I'm still a little confused and apprehensive...

I think there needs to be better ways to reduce rape than to have to a put a woman through this kind of thing.

It's really sad that devices like such have been created as the result of such a disgusting world.

There are three things I know:

1) Most girls I know have claimed to have been molested, raped or touched in some way inappropriately. This means that either statistics lie and nearly three quarters of the female population are victims and men are mostly all criminals OR a lot of it is misconstrued, lack of responsibility, or just plain bullshit.

2) Most girls I know fantasize about being raped. Why?

3) Thus, I can only conclude that most of these chicks make up stories in their own minds which, to me, TRIVIALIZES the real victims of rape and molestation.

So, RAPEX is a morbidly funny, yet DANGEROUS tool which could get some chick's head bashed in by a neanderthal idiot.

I don't think the threat is that great HERE (it may be in S. Africa though). I do think that packing a gun or using pepper spray, mace or some other handy form of protection is much better than this crazy "solution".

What if the girl gets penetrated and the guy BLEEDING ALL OVER HER AND IN HER has AIDS? She'll likely get it anyway. No, this tool is:

1) Too dangerous to the woman using it.

2) Not a real solution to the problem.

3) A device made from a rage-laden paranoiac.

I agree with half of what you say, Lib... minus the misconstruing only because that assumption is so dangerous. In my situation, I had warned a girl I knew that liked the guy that raped me, what happened, she assumed I was lying or misconstruing the situation...and she got raped by him too.

But, aside from that, I think a helpful tool to all women to check into is self defense.

And by all means, use your heads and dont drink in strange places.

Yes, its a different story in cases where someone you KNOW rapes you... but if youre out at a club in a strange city or something, dont drink... you must have your motor functions to self defend if something would happen.

I took self defense classes after my incident, and it came in handy one night when there was a drunk fuck at a party who probably wasnt a rapist, just a fucking moron... but I felt better safe than sorry.
