this beat still gets hype - that shit is classic
a part of hiphop is the sense of community and the gathering of like-minded people. the above video is a clear example of the ways an MC and DJ can together include the audience in a bad ass party. when the audience no longer feels it is WATCHING the show and is in fact THE show, shit gets crazy amped. this is easily done by the classic call and response in hiphop (that originated in jazz and blues and makes appearance in rock and country)

to say hiphop is not music, to say it takes no talent is one of the most ignorant things that people OFTEN say these days. i see it mostly done by older people and those who don't understand the CULTURE of hiphop and who haven't actually listened to the roots and underground much less actually been to a show - after all, hiphop began as a SHOW and it still stands to be some of the greatest entertainment IMO

I don't like the majority of Hip Hop. It's not that I don't respect it, it's just not my thing. Some stuff I love tho.

What do you guys, who listen to more traditional hip hop, think about the G Love video I posted above? Do you call that rap? I think he mentions hip hop blues somewhere in there. The freestyle after the main song is particularly delightful
