I agree, I dont like rap at all, i guess because down in my heart im just a metal chick, i cant help it, i love metal, hard rock, classic rock, i wish mtv would play something worth listening too, but i suppose they dont know what real music is. o well, i wish atleast there was one channel, i dont care if its cartoon network, just play some real music, please, b4 i create a channel of my own, oo thats not a bad idea. Peace, love, and ROCK N' ROLL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAHAHA, just when you think the world is bad enough, out comes these c;lose minded dumbasses. They don't know what real music is? Who's to say rock is better than rap. You can have your opinions but I'm still going to laugh at your ignorance.
I'm a complete music slut so I like all forms of music including rap, mainstream is very anoying rubbish but so is vertually any genra that makes it big (money backed) these days. Goldie Looking Chains - Safe as ***k boys. I just love these South Wales boyzzzzz, they don't take anything seriously especially rap and nothing is sacred or too gross/out of bounds. Thats rap music for me something thats not controlled by anyone yet alone big money. This might change I suppose as they are pretty big now. http://www.youknowsit.co.uk/lowtech/ I can like this and at the moment I'm listening to Debussy, "Prelude no 8," I don't see the problem with mixing it all up. P.s People on a hippy forum should "at least" like Del La Soul and a Tribe called Quest!
Goldie Looking Chains are funny hehe. Like I said, I don't really like rap but those guys are listenable. They ARE kinda taking the piss out of real rappers though...
I've actually only heard one of their songs, and I'd forgotten their name. Just remember the mad welshie rappers.
Agreed tey take the piss but its also totally real life commentary though. Rap/hip hop has always been big in the UK in poorer parts of the cities, its just didn't sound right when they tried it themselves cause we don't go around with guns, cruising in fancy cars etc. GLC are taking the piss out of what they have actually experienced and its really is funny especially when you compare it to the posturing of alot (definately not all) of US rap. What US rapper would rap about the cheap soap bar they get and the fact its the tar and bits of plastic that are really getting you high. Or thinking about back in the old days (before as they say they used to smoke draw) when they'd go down the roller disco, eating cola cubes and listening to Paul Hard Castles "19."
Class, what have we learned today? Mainstream = BAD Old school/Underground = GOOD Take notes, this WILL be on the final Seriously.... I agree with the general consensus. Just about anything you hear on the radio or watch on MTV or BET is going to commercialized. If you want good rap with a message, look into primarily underground/unsigned artists, or check out older rap/hip hop music. Rap roots never had it's history in booty, sex, cars, or jewels, until someone came along and realized that it was a good marketing product. MmmMmMmMmMmmm TUPAC!
I look at the name of this Poster: Peace vbmenu_register("postmenu_401929", true); In complete harmony. Those are not the words of someone in "complete harmony." Those are the words of someone who puts too much value in the idle rantings of a message board...Someone who cares more about being "right" than about being "fair and balanced, and POLITE even..." Those are the words of a teenage misanthrope...
I'm going to have to say the world got a favor with Tupac and that fat guy getting killed. Someone should take care of Snoop.
the great thing about rap "artist" is in a few years they burn through their money, have thier homes and cars repoed, and before you know it they are sucking dick for crack
I don't see how you can call this crap, when it's so different from what's on the radio. [Talib Kweli] Yo Dee (What?) Come on (Yeah..) What? What? Come on (Yeah) "Give me the fortune, keep the fame," said my man Louis I agreed, know what he mean because we live the truest lie I asked him why we follow the law of the bluest eye He looked at me, he thought about it Was like, "I'm clueless, why?" The question was rhetorical, the answer is horrible Our morals are out of place and got our lives full of sorrow And so tomorrow comin later than usual Waitin' on someone to pity us While we findin beauty in the hideous They say money's the root of all evil but I can't tell YouknowhatImean, pesos, francs, yens, cowrie shells, dollar bills Or is it the mindstate that's ill? Creating crime rates to fill the new prisons they build Over money and religion there's more blood to spill The wounds of slaves in cotton fields that never heal What's the deal? A lot of cats who buy records are straight broke But my language universal they be recitin my quotes While R&B singers hit bad notes, we rock the boat of thought, that my man Louis' statements just provoked Caught up, in conversations of our personal worth Brought up, through endangered species status on the planet Earth Survival tactics means, bustin gats to prove you hard Your firearms are too short to box with God Without faith, all of that is illusionary Raise my son, no vindication of manhood necessary [M.D.] Not strong [T.K.] Only aggressive [M.D.] Not free [T.K.] We only licensed [M.D.] Not compassionate, only polite [T.K.] Now who the nicest? so if those lyrics were put on a different beat, and delivered in a different way, such as singing, would it still be crap?
well...by money, you mean that money causes a problem...which they are saying it does. They are asking is money and greed a reason for people going to jail. He's not saying anything about how much money he has. And he is saying that the mainstream hip hop industry is so hypocritical...because women are either bitches or queens. He is in no way supporting any of it.
