But we've come to the conclusion that you've got as much evidence one way as the other, and so by your reasoning you can no more say there is no god than that there is, therefore you are merely unsure.. And that is what I've been lead to understand is an agnostic.
Do you have any concrete evidence that there isn't? Besides that doesn't change anything, you doubt, therefore you're an agnostic. An atheist is firm in their belief in no god.
Lack of evidence is not evidence. You are appealing to ignorance. PRODUCE EVIDENCE. Then, we'll talk. Atheism is not a belief.
Why don't you produce evidence? You're the one continually making a claim, I'm merely asking questions.. So the burden is on you is it not? I don't know how much simpler I can make it, atheism is the belief in there not be any gods.. Agnosticism is the doubt of it, or general uncertainty, or lack of interest, etc..
I have made NO claim other than atheism is lack of belief in gods (which I have proven). You said there is as much evidence FOR gods as not, so prove it. Atheism is not a belief.
You claim there are no gods. Is that not why you continually attack the christians? And when I said there was as much for as against, I was refering to that there is 0 either way. Okay, let's suppose momentarily then that "atheism is not a belief", so then you not holding a belief, you don't believe that there aren't gods? Again, in other words *sigh* you are uncertain. You really do seem quite confused.
Atheism deals with belief. Agnosticism deals with knowledge. I do not claim "knowledge" of gods. I doubt the claim there is a god or gods. No evidence.
if you are an atheist you claim (whether or not you posses it is another story) "knowlege (through belief) of no gods" & don't need proof.
Ancient Greek, the adjective atheos (from privative a- + theos "god") meant "without gods" or "lack of belief in gods". AGNOSTICISM DEALS WITH KNOWLEDGE. ATHEISM IS LACK OF B-E-L-I-E-F.
An agnostic does not believe because they don't know, and atheist believes that they know. So anyway, let me get this straight, you doubt the existence of gods right? But if you doubt, that insinuates that you do not know for sure, otherwise would you not simply believe? Just admit your agnosticism. Or admit you believe there are no gods..
Ok. An atheist does not "believe that they know", that's bullshit. An atheist disbelieves the CLAIM of theism. Yes, I doubt the existence of "God", because I see no evidence for the existence of "God". I do not claim "knowledge".
I am arrogant at times, yes. But that has nothing to do with these terms. ATHEISM - lack of belief in gods. AGNOSTICISM - unknowable. Belief is an apple. Knowledge is an orange. Shall we get back to 1st grade?
So the definitions shall just change according to your whims eh? Oh my, what's this? Without knowledge, it says nothing of the unknowability.
