Really, when it comes to any god, what is the difference between literal and symbolical? All religions that I know of that have a single or even multiple gods as figureheads to be worshipped, belive that there is a creator, wether that creator is a spiritual single god, or an eternal force of flowing energy, either way it is literal and symbolic at the same time.

    ADD:

To me, religion is pure laziness. I have met so many selfish fucks back when I was forced to attend religious schooling... those who would "pray" when they needed to do well on a quiz or something of the sort....

Not all, but a lot of people seem to want to rely on someone or something or a power to take care of them, and fix their mistakes so that they don't have to themselves.

And, I'm not singling out those who believe, I am simply saying this is the gist I get from the belief itself. Instead of asking for forgiveness, forgive yourself, and say sorry to the person you've fucked over... or are you just too chicken shit to do so that you need something to say sorry to to feel like a better person?!

Not trying to bash here, and I'm sorry if I had offended anyone but this is how it has always come across to me...WHY can't people deal with shit on their own, and take matters into their own hands. And why does there have to be a reason for anything? Anyone ever heard of cause and effect???!

Wrong. Space is made up of air. Air is a mixture of gases which are, in turn, made up of molecules, atoms....etc, etc. There is ALWAYS something.

That's what I most commonly see, nothing but a fear to take full responsibility for their life.. They need something outside themselves to justify their esistence.

Yes; the biggest issue is that though people state, constantly, that *god* and the bible, etc is all metaphorical, no matter how much they may *know* this, they find it nearly impossible to speak in such a manner, as that it is human nature to give unidentifiable things human characteristics...

No matter how well you understand that it is symbolical, that same person may still refer to god as a "he" or a "she" or have some sort of picture painted of what "god" or "heaven" looks like....it's not *supposed* to look like anything, from what I understand, but yet, it is impossible for the human brain to NOT compare it to something human-like.

And that is why it really irks me when people say things such as literally or symbolic...because EITHER WAY, if youre human you are going to accidently, and thoughtlessly give that certain *thing* a human, or earth-like characteristic so that your brain can grasp it and imagine it, to help you understand better. More like an analogy. Yes, everyone understands it, but that doesnt mean I have to believe it.

Well, that may not always be a fear of responsibility as it might just as easily be a feeling a being lost mixed in with a feeling of insignifagance for those huge churchy egos.

    Oh come on...

"Anti-Matter" is a hypothetical form of matter that is identical to physical matter. Period.

A perfect vacuum is an ideal state that cannot really exist.

And outer space is now known to be filled with a tenuous plasma.

From my experience they mostly need a reason.. Like why the hurricane hit, "it's god's will', 'He's testing us'.. Or when they got lucky or somehting, 'Oh the good lord saved us, it's a miracle, our house got smashed but we survived cause of god helping us' Or whatever shit like that, it's to much for them to accept that they just as easily could have died by no other reason than chance.. That there is no one lkooking out for them.. :D Actually a massive tree fell on ym deck where I had only moments before been standing, and would have died a horribly painful slow death if I hadn't just gone inside, but I wasn't like oh my god oit's a miracle, I was just like eh, that woulda sucked.

Well what if everything were to cease existence? What would we be left with? Being a concept it can exist, and therefore does exist for time doesn't exist, though by my reasoning it also does, and not be linear or anything the possibility of existence is existence because really what's the difference?

Matter/Energy cannot be created or destroyed it can only change form.

You have made a "quantum leap" into some impossible philosophical argument which cannot be defended on anything other than a concept which you really can't conceive, because you'd still be conceiving "something". ;)

IU can conceive it mostly, just not explain it. Though I've tried before in other threads but I have no central concept either because there's no need for one, I just conceive whatever I feel like conceiving at the moment. :p And as fasr as energy not being created or destroyed, there should be another piece added to the end of that.. "So far as we currently know". It's only a law until proven wrong.
