    What numbers?

I finally got Cafe at Night up by Van Gogh......, too.....That was my favorite find at a rummage sale....It looks amazing in the corner....photos do not do corner of the room any justice at all....

Happiness for me is a Van Gogh painting, even if it is a reproduction....

    Oh.....

I only have a single electric coffee maker here for fresh ground coffee, but found an old fashioned one you put on the oven from my mom's things....I have to go see if I can figure out how to use it....what? you just put fresh grounds in top part and fill with water? there are no directions...but it would make quite a few cups of coffee, so I guess i will try to make some now as a test run to see if i know how to use this thing...if not, no one is getting any coffee here on Saturday at me making one cup at a time with my other one,...guess I could do that, too, though.....lol

I decided to not test run it. I don't want any, and i will be wasting good coffee grinds....so i will test run it Saturday night and maybe my neighbor will know. I guess the steam from the water makes the coffee grinds drip down? I don't understand the principle, of grinds being on top in a compartment...as there is no where else to put them, and the water on the bottom.......baffles me in principle.....

    anyway...I want my food now.....lol.....

My line up is.....chips and crackers and vegetables with 5 different Adam's made dips.....Debbie's spicy wasabi dip, Dorothy's jalapeno and Cilantro dip, Nicole's chunky bleu cheese dip, Dale's Dill Dip, AND hORSERADISH cHEDDAR SPREAD...I have sampled them all and cannot figure out which is my favorite...all are out of this world........maybe I like the Jalapeno dip one the best....

I told everyone BYOB...and nothing else....they can drink as much as they want.....of their own stuff here....
Some do not drink...others do....I am providing anything else to drink....soda, water, juices, etc....coffee, hopefully.....tea for sure....

Supper starts out with salad with 4 different kinds of dressings to choose from...i like the Balsamic by Paul Newman the best, but there is also ranch, bleu cheese, and Italian to choose from...i have decided to go simple for salad....lettuce wedge with tomatoes and crumbly fresh blue cheese.....garlic bread made with fresh Italian bread that is out of this world.....that is starters....

then the supper....my wonderful homemade sauce made with meat this time......for spagetti....fresh grated romano cheese.....and another pan of hot and sweet italian sausages with peppers and onions to add to your spaghetti or not.....or eat on side...i never make this, so it is special.....

Then 3 pies to choose from for dessert and coffee, hopefully, or tea.....

yes, i am thinking alot about the food now...... :D

Yeah, Van Gogh is my favorite artist other than me.....lol

    I love Starry Night, too...

anything with a night sky works for me by him......but I like all of his paintings....I went to the Van Gogh museum when I was in Amsterdam....and cried....One needs to see them up close to feel his soul in the brush strokes....His things really made me feel everything he ever painted.

"I've got my art, and no one can take that away from me! "

I also have my new Asian classic red rug....WOO-HOO! It is beautiful and in safe keeping until I put it down on the floor for a few hours this Saturday. It is a shame, I cannot let it stay there all of the time.:(
    Oh, well.... life goes on.

That is a percolator... It doesn't go in the oven, it's a stove top unit. Water boils and goes up through the tube and it drips down through the grounds.

Nothing like coffee made with boiling coffee... [IMG]

    I don't like it... It get's bitter.

It used to be all the rage back in the 50's when all the guys complained about their wife's coffee. o.0

You could however use it as a drip coffee maker, just pour hot water (just below boiling) into the grounds in the top basket. But you will have to pour a little bit and let it drip and then pour a little more. It would take time but would taste better. Watch out though, the last cup would have sludge at the bottom.

    I love Van Gogh, too!

Our grandparents drank nothing but perculated coffee in the 50's and 60's.

    Then Satan created instant.

Yeah, this perculator was my mom's mom's....and I have no idea what it will taste like, but I am not going to buy a big electric coffee maker for one night, when I will never use it again probably....so if it is awful...oh, well...I have sugar here to sweeten it and half and half......Everything else will be excellent here, so I cannot stress over it anymore....I will explain to my guests....they will forgive me.

Add a pinch of salt to the coffee grounds before brewing.

That's supposed to help it not taste bitter.

Ok, thanks, Aeri...for the tip. I did not know that and will do that, as it is good coffee .......and I will import TY here to slowly pour almost boiling water through the thing little by little,.... :D

I remember my grandma used to drink her perculated coffe and had those sugar cubes in her mouth with each drink...i think I understand why now, if it is really supposed to brew bitter.

I never heard any complaints but they probably thought that was as good as coffee could get.
