This morning was the first time since Friday evening that I've seen what the storm was like for other people. It was not bad for us. In fact, I kind of enjoyed it.

My boss' boss phoned Sunday night and urged me to work at home on Monday. Monday morning my boss called and said stay home Tuesday also. I guess it was kind of crazy in Boston. The commuter trains stopped operating around 3 PM that day.

Monday afternoon I had to go out with my timber saw and remove a couple of tree limbs that had fallen on the driveway and blocked it. Not too bad - I enjoyed it.

Afterward I drove to the grocery store for emergency supplies - I was out of wine. The store was on generator power, and they were taking refrigerated items off the shelves. I got my wine checked out by the cute young goth with face piercings. She agreed that the wine was a crucial need.

This morning I got reconnected to the outside world again, and found out that devastation reigned elsewhere and 55 people didn't make it through the storm. Sobering. We were lucky.

 

I'm in the Smoky Mountains... Just hubby and me...

Today, I start a long and trecherous journey that some men choose to go through during this time of the year. Myself, I have never been able to successfully complete it before, but am giving it another go this year. I know it will be hard, and will put my mind, body and soul on the verge of insanity, but with enough will power and dedication, I think I can do it...
