Our planned trip to the east coast has hit a few snags... Don't know if we will be going...

 

Lucky, they're a great band. Here's an interesting fact if you didn't already know it. The singer/guitarest Matt of Muse, his father was the guitarest for a band from the 1950's called "The Tornados". They had this famous single called "Telstar", Matt said that he used it to influence his 'homage' to his father, "Knights of Cydonia". If you listen to them back to back you can really tell.

I'm getting annoyed.

 

I knew about that because I met his father about ten years ago, I know that song very well. My own father knew him when they used to gig. I've met Matt Bellamy a couple times as well, when they used to play small venues and had only released the first album.

Strange how big they are now.

 

How come?

 

That's cool. Are you a Tornados fan as well?

 

I want to say yes, but truthfully not overly. My dad was, as was his brother. I just had to endure a lot of music he listened to, good or bad, when growing up.

Not into much 60's and 70's, I latched onto the 80's stuff. Maybe that's because I was born in that era.

Are you a fan?

 

Somewhat, to be honest the only song I go out of my way to listen to is Telstar. It's got an interesting story behind the guy who came up with it with their help, Joe Meeks. He was a genius who is responsible for a lot of the things regarding music recording today. He completely changed the field.

 

I know nothing of him, might have to do a little reading up. Some of these songs from decades ago are itching for reinvention, genius borrows after all. Matt Bellamy is a classic example of someone who has created a innovative 'type' of music in a flat scene, be it neo-classical/progressive pop.

It's different, but it doesn't stray from the new. Knights Of Cydonia is a great example of that, as is this

He said in an interview years ago some car game from the early nineties inspired Bliss. That is the riff.

My random fact, and point is as I have already stated- People don't have to carbon copy the past, but tip the hat can sometimes breed a completely new sound in light of the present trend. Telestar is cool, as is anybody involved in it.

 

My random fact is that I would love to go and push some people off of their high horse.

 

Fact- I had a hard time falling asleep last night and I have to go out in 30 minutes but I'd rather go back to bed.

My sister almost had her baby on the way to the hospital last night. She ended up having it 15min. after ariving. But the baby's perfect and she has my nose so I'm happy about that.
